I want to put a dual quad set up (offy) on my '63 Lesabre. Does anyone know what the total height above a stock manifold is? I would like to be sure that I can stuff it all in there without clipping any sheet metal. :stmad:
There has been some cast 2X4 (stock) intakes on Ebay lately, you may want to check there, I have a 63 hardtop, looks like it would be tight with a offy.....uzzled:
slacker I've been told the stock 2x4 manifolds have more hood clearance and give better performance than the Offy . Judd
The only problem for me is that unless it's in real bad shape most stock manifolds I find are even more expensivee than a brand new offy manifold. Plus the offy unit just looks bitchin polished!!!
Ebay manifolds Stock 2X4 setuos are getting even more expensive. I should have bought some of the earlier setups i've seen. Here is a link to a great setup that includes just about everything. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2442279270&category=34202 The price on this is a little more like Duesenburg than Buick but if dough comes easy enough for you than this may be better than piecing it together. The only problem is that if you rich guys keep slapping down the big cash soon all us poor guys will have to buy Chevys. (please don't let that happen).
That's why there are alternatives/aftermarket like the offy manifold for people like us! Does anyone have a comparison picture between the stock and the offenhauser manifolds together?
If I remember right, my stock single, and dual offy was about 4 inches. It fit under the hood of the riv, but I had to get the small air cleaners. Anything larger and they touch the pins for the center strip of crome on the hood.
Dual quads Speaking of dual quads, did you see the post about the effort being made on the Nailhead buick site to reproduce the best of the after market manifolds, the B262 Edelbrock. Price will be $470 plus shipping if 25 orders can be collect. For more info contact. Steve Semon at steve@centralcomm.net Mike
