Im tired already of the hood insulation my Electra has. I like seeing the hood support and crossmembers as it gives it a cleaner look. And my hair doesnt get as dusty when i rub against it. Does anyone know what is correct?

My car doesn't have any, but the hood in the garage does have pieces inserted into the holes between the support beams. Personally I could care less, unless it's flamable, then it's out.

    Rob,
The hood insulation on my 75 Electra and on my former 74 LeSabre (and 76 Electra) was like yours, a full pad. I don't know when the change occured from the 5 piece instulation like in Adam's car to the full insultaion but yours might be original too.

I asked Bruce (68lesabre4dr) and he also said they made the change for sure in '74 but was unsure about '73.

So Phil, are you saying it would probably be the "correct" insulation for the shows?

Look at the link I sent you for Classic Buicks -

The last item on the list is a a'73 only item, and it is "precut."

Might ask Rick Martinez, or some other 73 owners what theirs looks like..

Man, that's a good price at classicbuicks, less than $40! Might have to jump on some of that...

On the 73 Riviera I have pre-cuts and the 75 had a full pad.... (had to throw it away.....) so for the 75 I'm looking for a full pad, but I cannot say the original had a waffle pattern and certainly wasn't gray like the one on classicbuicks.
Still I can add precuts for there are still the same places in '75 hood as in the '73.... but I rather go original

    Any suggestions?

Zach, when was you car made? Mine was a very early car, September 1st. I can't imagine someone changing it out at all, let alone putting insulation back on if they took it out.

Well, whatever you do, don't be like my friend back home. He decided to put that pink household insulation in his 74 Trans-Am (I think it's a 74). It ended in a fire and utter cotastrophe. Yeah, THAT was brilliant!

I found pre cut hood lnsulation for my 71 Riv on eBay. It came from a seller called route66cruisers. Fit perfectly, maybe they make it for your car.

My '71 has the original insulation still and it's pre-cut inserted inside the hood crossmember sections.

Most of the 73 hoods I've seen recently have the full cover on them.
