does anyone have any experience with hooker super competition headers compared to t/a's for a 350? i have about $150 credit at summit and want to know if i should just shell out a little more to go with t/a's.

well i haven't had any experience with hooker headers, even though i have heard a couple of stories about bottom out if you have bad front suspension. But I just installed some TA competition headers last saturday they fit GREAT!! my .02

    Pete,
I've had the Hooker super competitions on my '70 Skylark 350 for 12 years now. Not one complaint.
I would recommend you get them thermo-coated by someone like Jet Hot. For longevity.:Smarty:

My Larks' front end is lowered 2" and I never hit with Hookers. As far as longevity, I am using the same set I installed on the car - back in 1987!!

I vote for the Hookers! Headers, that is.....

I have 2 1/2 on my car now, with dynomax super's...sounds really good...just remember you have to order the collectors separate ($30) extra. Also remember that with any header, you will hear a slight tinney noise (this is normal!!!) just get them coated, cause any hooker header starts surface rusting in about 2 months...thats the mistake that I did :( . HTHYO :TU:

If Poston Buick 350 Headers are made by TA Performance, BUY TA!!

I have own BOTH Hooker Comps and the ones that you see in my "Profile Picture" purchased from Poston.

From my experience, the Hooker had three faults:
1). Sounds like CHEEP metal due to thin metal walls.
2). The Starter was hard to uninstall from engine.
3). One bolt on the Passenger Side, beneath the Number 4 and 6 cylinder Exhaust Port, was near imposable to tighten with ordinary tools.

    With Poston, NO CONS!
    Here were the positives:
1). Thicker Metal. Not that "Ting" sound.
2). The Starter has SO much room to drop, I CAN NOT believe!

I have had NUMBEROUS Chevy and Dodge folk rave about the quality and look of my 350 headers. :TU:

    Look into it!

do t/a's come with reducers, bolts and gaskets? think the coated ones run about 269 or something like that.

I know what you are saying about the tinny sound, but a lot of headers make that sound. They are not cheap headers, and they do last.

I will make note about the access to those bolts, as I do have that problem. My starter changes were very easy, however.

My Hooker Header were purchased back in the Early 90's, they may have made some change since then.
