what is the proper name for the dome over the exhaust manifold that provides the hot air during initial start?

I need one of those and would like to know where to get one.

    Thanks

Hrmm, I know it feeds the Thermac. I believe the part is called the heat riser.

I think you might be talking about the heat stove?

i've heard heat stove and exhaust stove, and heat riser is the same thing, isn't it?

btw i may still have mine sitting in the garage if you really need it. not sure what kind of shape it's in, it's solid but would probably need to be sandblasted or otherwise de-rustified. ;)

    heat riser

i believe that the heat riser was like a gateway that opened as the engine warmed up . it was located between the exhaust manifold & the exhaust pipe . 1970 & older ?

I believe the heat riser is a valve between the exhast manifold and y-pipe. It operates by a spring that responds to exhast heat by opening the valve. It then directs exhast heat into the intake manifold to help cold running.
