years ago I took a wrench and bend it 90 degrees to tighten down the hold down bolt. Seems like now I cant get it in there to tighten the 9/16 nut... kind of a stupid spot for it.. What's the best way to get at that nut under the distributor?
I have one but looks like the wrong one... as it's bent in 2 steps and can't get it in there.. might need to get another one.
You really should get a distributor wrench. I've probably got 6-10 different ones for cars I've owned in the past. You can buy a SAE universal type that you can position in different configurations. Something like this...it's 1/2" 9/16". Good for other stuff too, like upper rear shock bolts, etc. This ones, fair priced, USA and best offer free ship. https://www.ebay.com/itm/KD-TOOLS-D...835894&hash=item2cc8484736:g:3skAAOSwdjdZ6OqL
Ok, could barely get s 9/16 on there but it wouldn't move enough.. I modified my existing distributor wrench with some heat to change the angle. Just tried it and it is going to work. For me the distributor wrench is the only way.. Thanks all for the repsonses.

My distributor wrench is probably 40 years old,its shaped like a L,and you use a ratchet to tie down.But I don;t use it anymore,I just use a Sears 9/16 wrench,no problems.Bruno.
