In the early 70's,my dad had a 63 Bonneville 4dr with a 421 4bbl.That car was fast! One day out visiting friends,we stopped at a traffic light.Next to us,pulls a green 2dr car. I asked my Dad " what's a Stage1 ? " My Dad liked to race. He revved the motor a couple of times and that got it going. I grabbed the bar on the dash and held on 'cause I knew what was happening next! Light turned green and the Bonne launched hard. I could barely hang on to the grab bar. I looked over at the Stage 1 and smoke rolling off its tires -passing us! That really made an impression on this then 11 year old. 3 years later,my first car would be a '66 Riviera GS field bomber.Since '77,I have had over 30 Buicks and still own 8.

    69conv Thats a BUICK!?

i collect 1:18 scale car models. When i was 9 i got a model of a 71 GSX. loved it. my dad told me a few stories about a 69 GS Stage 1 his boss owned and he drove. these stories just sort of sealed the deal. iv been into buicks since then and my dream car since then has been a 70 GSX. me and my dad now have a 69 GS clone convertible w/ a 455.(my car when im 16) the more time i spend around the car the more i like it. i dont think ill ever switch now, i dont like imports/tuners/ricers (i know their not all ricers, some are actual enthausiests with actual fast cars, i give them respect)
i dont ever see the 69 leaving possesion of myself or dad, but i do see MORE BUICKS in the future :3gears:

My dad drove Buicks from the early fifties until the late 70's. He was an insurance agent and one of his clients was a Buick dealership in the Twin Cities. Every year we were invited to the new car introduction party.

Hmmm, my grandparents have always had Buicks, but for me it started when they bought a new loaded 1978 park avenue. It was given to my parents in the 80's sometime and when I was born in 1987, I rode home in that car. The End

When my mother was pregnant of me, my parents had a metallic grey 76 Century Custom coupe. The car had a blue interior with white bucket seats. My father sold it to my uncle My father didn't like the Century very much and he traded it just before I was born (in January 77) for a 77 Grand Prix, a base model with a bench seat... My uncle liked the Century so he bought it and kept it until 1983. I remember riding in it when I was young and unlike my father, I liked it!
After the Grand-Prix, my father bought a 78 Bronco XLT which he liked but he hated to fill it's gas tank... His solution was to trade it for a 1980 Rabbit diesel which he loved. I HATED it and all the Volkswagens he had since then! This is probably why I like Buicks!

When I was still very young, I was always impressed by 74-46 Electras. I also liked boattails and the 60's Wildcats. I always asked to my parents to stop and look when I saw one in a parking lot. When I was a bit older, I was riding my bicycle to search for big Buicks. Even my friends spotted them for me and some were pretty good at it! When I was 13, my cousin described me a Buick he saw for sale about 15 miles away from my home.
Here's what he said: "The car is light green with rusted out rear quarters, it has 3 "holes" on the front fenders, a huge Buick crest at the rear, a Buick crest on the hood ornament, "W" shaped front and rear ends, two doors, two big round gauges in the dash"
I told him what I thought it was and asked him where it was. :Brow:
Have you found the model and year it was?
I went to see it in the same afternoon and it was just what I expected! There was nobody in the house near it so I noted the phone number on the "for sale" ad and called the owner to know it's price. She told me she wanted 800$ for it. I told my parents that I had enough money to buy it and that I really wanted it but they refused, told me I was a bit young to have a car since it would take more than two years before I could get my driver's licence! They also told me they were tired to hear about it and that I was already invading their house with the tube radios and consoles that I collected and they had no place for cars and parts! It wouldn't be long until they would change their mind! I bought my 68 Wildcat when I was 15 and my first 68 le Sabre parts car when I was 16!!

i had owned one muscle car in my life and that was a 1970 chevelle malibu that i had ordered (feb 28 arrived may 5) the way i wanted it - 350v8, 300hp, th350, posi, white bucket seats, console, pdb.... well i sold that car in 1974 and of course a few years later kicked my a$$ for doing that. since i work for a police service (1989), i was able to track the chevelle through 12 owners until 1988. attempted in 1990 to locate the last owner, and did, but he had sold the car in the spring and the car was long gone. he had wanted to restore the car, but realized the cost to do so was beyond his financial means.
well, after my son graduated from university with his phd, and now being an empty nestor by 2000, the time was right to find me a chevelle, similar to my one and only. anyhow, while searching for the velle, i received a phone call in september of 2000. my brother had found a car but decided he did not wish to purchase but thought that i might. low & behold it turned out to be a 1972 gs350, th350, buckets, console, #s matching + buildsheet rust free alberta car with great paint. the seller was the 3rd owner and he was deperate to sell as he needed money to complete the renovations to his house.
he had been trying to sell the car for a year for $9900, with no luck. i made him a him a ridiculousy low offer, less than half the original asking price. sold!
since then, i have spent several thousand $$ restoring the interior, the engine bay, suspension, brakes, etc...
this car is now my pride and joy!! as for a chevelle, i will find one & when i do, i will buy it!

It's all my dad's fault ! He had Buicks until he died. Started with a 67 Electra (Gold), went to a 69 Electra (Blue), 71 Electra (Bright Red), 76 Electra (white) [this is the car I learned to drive on] 84 Estate Wagon (dark Red), 92 Park Avenue (bronze). My first car was a 75 Regal coupe (charcoal Grey), also had a 87 Somerset V-6 Leather (white) and now the 75 LeSabre Convert. I've converted my in-laws to Buicks and working on the wife now  Will probably replace the Bravada with a Rainier...I'm always looking for that perfect Buick to add to my stable.

    It's Dad's fault. That and a '68 Sportwagon.

Dad was a Ch*vy guy until '68, when he got promoted (Army) and decided to "move up the GM ladder". He ordered a '68 Sportwagon from the dealership in Mineral Wells, TX. It came with a plate on the drivers door: "This car made especially for James Myers".

One of my earliest memories is the sight of that Sportwagon up on the lift at the dealership, with the wheels off, being undercoated before we picked it up. We went on family roadtrip vacations, etc, for years in that car. It started to have tranny problems, and Dad traded it in on a '73 Ch*vy station wagon, which was a huge pig of a vehicle. Dad has been kicking himself in the rear ever since then.

Dad made up for it by trading the pig for a '74 Electra 225, which we drove for 300,000+ miles before it finally started blowing oil. For a couple of years, Dad had his silver 225, and Mom drove her blue '74 225.

My brother and I learned how to drive in a '68 Skylark Custom. Great car, until my bro wrecked it. In '84, I bought the 2NABOT, a '71 LeSabre, off the lot where it was sold when new. I'm the second owner, and it's got 284,000 miles in the drive right now. Whee!!!

I'd kill to find that old SportWagon!

I had owned all kinds of Detroit iron from 1973 up to summer of 2000, but not any Buicks. Bored at work one day, picked up one of the local papers, just to see what might be available.

I was wanting another convertible, since I'd already bought and sold two others. Was actually looking for an Impala or an Olds, when what should appear, a 1969 Electra drop top.

Call the owner, he's asking $2000.00 Cdn, sounds like a good deal, go look it over later that day, no plates on her, so no test drive. Runs good, top works one window motor is dead, dangle $1800.00 in front of him, he bites on it, and thus another Buick convert is born. Sold that car two years ago for $2500.00. All I did was replace the dead window motor, and clean it up somewhat.

Was going to save my cash to buy a 66 or 67 GS convert, when exactly one week later, found my 64 Skylark drop top. One month later I bought a 68 Electra 4 door hardtop mainly for the power train, but it's too nice to part out. It needs some work, but the body is in real good shape, only one small rust spot. One day I'll turn my attention to her.

This past winter found a 64 Skylark 2 door hardtop parts car, my yard is rapidly filling up. :Dou: :Dou:

Now I only look for more Buicks...yikes, I need a bigger yard, good thing I'm not married, she might not understand. :Brow:

I rode in Alan's (on this board and is my dinosaur brother) 70 GS455 non a/c car. It had a mild engine with 118 cam and s/p trans. I was hooked! Really impressed with the power. I grew up Chevy from my Dad cars but this one ride converted me for good. I went out and bought a 72 GS 350 and still have it. February 27th will be 19 years. Now I have my Dad converted. He has a 71 GS 350 conv. and is working on a 72 GS 350 hardtop.
    I now have 3 GS's.

I first got pulled into Buicks when my freind got his 1964 LeSabre estate wagon with a 401 and a sp400, i remeber the first time i sat in it then way the wheel felt in my hands and the way it felt sitting in its seats also the note that emited from the tailpipes when it idled, well about a year later he was selling it and after many tries to sell it and no luck i scored it for $1200 funny thing is the day after i pi9cked it up 7 people called his house about the car wanting to buy it.

Fond memories of my Dad's '70 Wildcat did it for me.He always, previous to that point in time, had Oldsmobiles. They were nice cars and quick too.The Olds he had just before the Wildcat was a 455 1968 Delta ,which as a young gaffer,I thought was hot stuff ,particularly on the low end. When I got to drive the Wildcat(which thankfully for the car's sake wasn't that often) I thought initially it was soft on acceleration. Then it hit second gear-and it accelerated faster in second than in first.I had never experienced such raw, quiet, effortless grunt.I couldn't believe it-I remember shaking my head in disbelief while my right foot was jammed to the floor.I didn't realize until much later that the Q-jet had a poorly adjusted secondary air valve and the secondary side of the carb was taking its good old time to open up.
My first (owned) Buick was an '86 Grand National which I bought new.Why I ever sold it is a mystery to me although my wife at the time hating it likely provides the explanation! In the mid-90's I acquired my '71 GS 455 and this one is not going to get away.It is the only car(and I have had over 60 of them) that I would never sell.A GS has that effect on you.

I grew up riding my dad's 66 Riv. Mean looking car when you ride in the middle and stare down that long hood chrome for years!! Then he had a 350 Buick engine stuffed into our 55 Chevy truck that later became mine at the age of 13! Love them!
