How do I install new quarter Glass vertical Chrome. Ive removed the old by pulling it foreward with my fingers. They came off easy. Then I cleaned off the old stuck on rubber that was left on the edge of the glass. The new Chrome is an exact repo and also the new rubber strip which mounts it to the glass edge. These are a very tight fit I am sure several members here have had to replaced these when doing a restoration. Any tricks on installing without removing the Quarter glass, Do I use a lube, ECT. ???
    Thanks, Freakazoid

    Me Too!

I Am interested in this also, I am pretty sure that you need to make sure the glass is nice and clean and then put a dap of silicone on the inside channel and slip it on. BUT don't quote me on this.
So If some else has done this let us in on the tips and tricks. :Smarty:

    New or used though?

yes, I could see if they were used the silicone would help seal the old rubber seal. But these are new repo's I have, and when I pulled the old ones off there was no sealer just some of the old rubber gasket stuck to the glass, which I cleaned off. Ive tried to slip the new ones on several ways and they dont want to go on easy. I dont want to bend the chrome or tear up the rubber quarter glass seal.

    Try liquid dish soap

While I can't say I've done this with chrome mouldings on cars, I have had to fit rubber mouldings on many parts and always have good success with plain ole liquid dish soap.

I would have to agree with a mixture of water and dish soap to make things slick. Then just tap them on lightly with a rubber mallet.

    1/4 glass chrome moulding

They fit fairly tight, but should go on with a few taps from a rubber mallet, and a wood block to minimize damage to the new chrome moulding. I put mine on dry, but a mild soap solution might help them to slide on easier.
Line up the moulding at the top of the glass with the rubber strip in position over the glass, (with the front glass seal strip removed) and gently tap it onto the 1/4 glass, taking care to protect the glass.
Slide the front glass seal strip into the groove in the moulding with a little silicone to seal it, and help it slide into position a little easier. Trim off the access chrome strip rubber, (both sides) and you should have a finished 1/4 glass window. :TU:

Not hijacking, but help is welcome...

Without hijacking this thread, can anyone tell me where they're finding these pieces? I've been looking for replacments for my LeSabre for years and have not found any.

At least now I know how to install them if I ever find them. Thanks!
