when i use magnets to pick up small stuff i try to cover the magnet with a plastic bag and when i am through, i turn th bag inside out to contain the stuff i picked up and discard. then there is no cleaning of debris directly on the magnet to deal with. :Brow: yuk
This is an idea that also works for other stuff that you can't pick up off the floor because you just clipped your finger nails, i.e. flat washers etc. Take a shop rag or any other rag lying around. Put it on the end of the shop vac hose and hold it about 1 inch off the floor. When the lost item is picked up, it will stop on the cloth and you can pick it off. Did this when I lost a contact a few years ago and it does work great.:TU: :Smarty:
Since I already made the mistake of sucking up about 100 staples from my torn up counter-top without using Yuk's magnet condom I guess I'll have to find an even larger magnet and find a really really big magnet condom, just to avoid making the same mistake again. I figure the even bigger magnet will suck the staples clean off of the small magnet. This should work, right???? Really Yuk, thanks for providing us all with the prophylactic knowledge necessary to practice safe ferous debris removal!!!
The next time you find a broken hard drive, take it apart. Aside from being fascinating inside, the magnets that hold the movable armature in place are some of the most powerful you'll ever find. John
that shop vac trick works great if you need to find a contact lens... cept when i did it i used a piece of womens nylons to cover the end of the hose.
Great minds think alike! Look out, people! there are more than one of us. Also, Yuk, Those weren't your panty hose, were they?:jd: ou:
hey greg, what kind of buick you lookin for? i have a 75 lesabre convertible (solid floors, trunk and front end, needs quarter and interior and new top, and motor tranny rebuild/replacement.) that i need to sell. i also have a 76 lesabre 4 door post that would be a good quarter panel and some other parts donor for the 75. let me know if you are interested and need more info.
Yes, but... Yes, Yuk, I am interested, but right now, disposable income is at a minimum. Just changed jobs this summer and the budget is really tight. I will, however be starting my second job in a couple of weeks and may be able to pigeon hole enough money away, depending on the price. looking for a car for the kid. She turns 16 in the summer, so I would have a little time to work on her before the kid gets her license. Sounds like a good car. Safe and everything. Keep me in mind if you still have it in March!:TU:
Buy a FILTERMAG from Alan That way, you wil not have any to clean and you will discard them with the filter change (not to mention you will trap metal that you CANNOT SEE) .
