I have destroyed one and lost another. I am talking about the reproductions. I mean they are a POS. I taught it a lesson by putting it in the vice and ripping it in half with pliers. I may as well tear doallar bills in half. At this point I may just go without> if I stupidly buy another it may just get duct taped on for shows. Another repro not worth the money. $60 down the toilet.
Dave, I know of 2 ways to install them, either solder it on, or use urethane to glue it on. The originals were made from "spring steel" and the repros are not. That is how the originals held on with that small clip. The original hose clips were also made of spring steel. Duane
Dave, Why don't you just stick an Original "SJ" tag on it and call it done! How many people will know the tag is wrong. Duane
Frank, I agree, but I believe Dave has it in the car and painted, and probably doesn't want to take it out again. Duane
Well it is painted but not in the car. I like the urethane idea. Duane, Is it ordinary caulking style urethane like used around sinks?
NO, I have a friend that did this and he used the type of urethane you glue the windshields in with. You need something that really sets. If you have it out of the car then SOLDER it in, and fix the paint. ..............or do you really want to take the chance of loosing another tag?o No: Duane
Yeah...that's the thing, you don't want to lose it and w/ solder it's not going anywhere! I don't know about the glue...you know how hot a rad gets?
The repro radiator tags were made from one of my originals. For sure, soldering was the method used to attach it.
