How do you remove the back seats?

I know it's probably pretty basic but is there a trick to removing the rear seats on a 1972 Skylark?

I see a hook on both sides with a wire caught into it, but it seems I have to remove the backrest first to give room to pust the bench back, but need to take the bench out to accest the backrest... Myabe I should just push harder.

    Thanks, Dan.

You'll have to unspring the seat frame from the two hooks you've seen, then lift the bench out. This will reveal two hold-down bolts to the seat back. With those removed, the seat back can be lifted vertically and taken out. Might take a bit of elbow grease the first time.

It's a little difficult the first time, but after that you'll find it quite easy to push down and back. Then the backrest comes off with a couple bolts and a swing up.
