How much interest in a buick "barn raising" party?

    Darryl Roederer Life is good

I'm about to close the deal on a few acres of land 30 miles north of Louisville. Sort of a mini-farm. The property has 2 barns [lots of buick storage space :TU: ], a small stream running thru it, and great access to town. The problem is that it has no house.

After looking at all my options, including a double wide modular, moving an existing home onto it, or paying megga bucks to have someone else build one, I'v arrived at what I think is the best solution..... A LOG CABIN!!!!

I'v found a company I'm impressed with, and settled on a model. When I purchase it, it will arrive in a "kit" form... All logs numbered and labeled, ready for assembly.

Anybody interested in a barn raising,,, er, I mean log cabin raising buick party/pic-nic?

I'll provide all the food and soda pop you can handle, along with lots of parking space to show off our rides. I'm not a drinking man, but if there's enough requests, I'll spring for a keg of brewskie as well :Brow:

I'll also set up a swiming pool for quick escapes from the summer sun.

Bring the family if you want... 6 flags is 1/2 hour away, but you will need to provide a baby-sitter for 'little ones.

Unlimited camping space, or in-expensive motels 20 min's away. I'll also provide a port-a-john, running water, and electricity.

You bring yourself, a basic collection of hand-tools for your profession, and a can-do attitude.

All are welcome... Labor is not required, but would be greatly appreciated.

If we can make it happen, it will take place late July to early August. Held over a 4 day weekend, Fri, sat, sun, mon.

Reply here, and I'll fill in details as they become available :beer

I heard about those log cabin kits, they assemble them an then dissasemble and number as you say. But only In Montana I heard of them.

I am interested in a party, and if my future Riviera is up to the journey I'll be there. You can count on it! :beer :TU:

    ...so....what's the problem?? :Do No:

Seriously, I think it's a cool concept and putting a log cabin on this property is a great idea.

My wife and I are attempting to sell our mini-farm (2 barns on three acres) in the 'burbs and move closer to the Detroit area. I may have to steal your concept!

Congrats on your purchase and good luck!

    BF2KNIGHT Buickless for now

We are trying to do just the opposite. We're about 25 miles south of Minneapolis and it's way too suburban for me, but I'm afraid that we're stuck...housing prices are out of sight these days....10 years ago when we built, 10 acres was $30K, now it's $300K at least....I need more room so I can get more toys !!
