    hey guys,
This might sound kinda funny, but I am touching up a small part of a rear fender and well new paint doesn't look like 30 year old paint "oviously," and does anybody know any tricks on how to take the shine out of an enamel paint..I got it primed and painted and it looks pretty good, except the shine in the new paint..Any suggestions on bring the tone down?? Thanks..

You need to buff a shine on to the old paint.Buffing the fresh paint will also tone it down a little. All paint manufacturers have a flattening agent to make semi gloss and flat colors but from my experience the color shifts when flattening agent is added making color match a very difficult process.

Second question on Buffing up or Down..

    Hey whats up?

I happened to read on this forum that someone got into trouble with rubbing compound? Is this the same idea in bring out a shine in older paint? If this is the same am I going to have the same results..I have done some body work but never had to buff out 30 year old paint..I will look on the net for ideas on what to do, but if anyone has a tried true method please fill me in..Thanks for all the help..
