    Thanks Jeff

I'm glad I'm doing this over the winter coz I'd probly be throwing tools at the wall if I was trying to go racing...I know the Buick stuff takes extra patience coz I've been into it since '91 or so,but this is my first girdle, aftermarket rod, custom crank, let try to make 850+ HP deal..thanks for all the help guys youve been a great help to my motor and my sanity...Fish

Measure ID off Balancer and OD of Crank Snout. Subtract the Two numbers.

That will tell you How much Press Fit you Have.

What are you Main Bearing and Rod Bearing Clearances?

My Romac was tight, but it went on without honing. Used a long bolt, nut and washer to run it down.

The .0025 Mains was that with the Main Girdle if so looks Good. .002 Rods

sounds good. Are you using that Cam I sold you? How Much Compression.

How Long of Rod How Big is the Motor Dave?

Make Shure to use 10w30 or Lighter on the first fire up Warm up the Oil Before Firing for the First Time. Run The Motor for 30 Minutes to Brake in the Cam. Then Change Filter and Oil.

If you Like Cut the Filter Open that you took of to see how Clean the Paper is

if it looks good you did a Good Job Building your Engine.

Dave are you using the Cam I Sold you?

    How Big is the Engine?

    How Much Compression?

    How Long is the Rods?

yes that main bearing clearance was with the girdle installed. I am using the cam you sold me..gonna try and degree it tomorrow. Connecting rods are 6.8 big chevy and bore is 4.35 for 464"...Compression I cant be sure of...I have the stock deck surface, fresh TA stage2 TE heads,Wiseco 12:1 pistons, and .120 Cometic headgaskets. Your guess is as good as mine what the exact CR will be...anybody have the calcualtions? Fish

Why the .120 head gaskets?? Your going to loose alot of quench. If the chambers are around 64 cc it will have 10.36 with .120 gaskets.

Degree the Cam in at 108 on the Intake. Dave is the Piston at 0 Deck or .010

or .020 in the Hole. You the Thick .120 Gaskets

I Would Say .032 to .040 is what you need. You need to change those Head

Gaskets or the Motor will be a Mutt with out the Nitrous.

    Headgaskets

My reasoning for the thick gaskets was that I could take out layers if need be,but I wanted to start on the safe side but still keep the options open...I'm planning on cramming as much nitrous as possible into this thing, Fish

I think your going to find you need a .040 gasket, with the N2O.

Dave try to get it to Mid 11 to 1 Compression so it will run Fare on the Motor.

With the Cam that I Sold you it will run Crape on the Motor. with out

    11.3 to1 or Better

Fish, Are the pistons in the hole? If they are your closer to 10-1 or less.

cray1801 Too much is just right.

This picture was taken of my `73 block, has anyone ever strengthening this area of the block? I'm guessing that since it is at the bottom of the cylinder it's a low stress point :Do No:
