Thanks to Larry :Smarty: I found my kickdown swith was not hooked up correctly to
my gas pedal(72GS455)---NOW it downshifts ok in DRIVE but shifts up at LESS then 4000 rpm. Anyway to raise it up to say 4500 at WOT? Or does that require
a Professional tranny adjjustment? :Do No: Pete

You need to get a governor recalibration kit - Jegs sells them....as well as all the other retail rod shops.

    No,
Not difficult at all, but will require alot of trial and error. The kit come with replacement weight axles, that use "e" clips. So once you clip the original axles off, weight changes are quick and easy. If you use a clean container, you can save the ATF you will lose when unbolting the cover, and pour it right back in. Change one weight at a time, road test and evaluate. It may take you 4 or 5 attempts, but it's fun testing :3gears:

I have had good success by filing down the weights and replacing pins with number six finishing nails which I cut to length then flaten the ends with a vise to keep from falling out. Doves books and old GSXtras show diagram for how to file or grind weights. This is very time consuming but you can get more exact the shift points you want. Buy a gasket wht the metal core as it takes more abuse.

If you can park your car aiming nose-down, so the trans fluid will go forward, you'll make less of a mess when you pop it open each time.

I just jacked the car up in the back as high as I could get it (making sure the front wheels were chocked) and I had very little, to no spillage of fluid.
