Anybody know of any good resorces for how to rebuild a TH400. Would prefer something online that I can read and print. Good detailed pics would be a world of help too. Also need a good source of parts at as reasonable price as possible. The parts will need to be able to hold 600+ hp in a heavy car. I already have a manual valve body but the 2nd gear clutches are toast and need to be replaced. I'm thinking I'll do them all sense it will be apart.

Do a search on this board. Nailheadina67 started a thread awhile back & the TH400 guru chimed in & walked him through the whole build. Pictures, part numbers, etc. Very long, very interesting, especially for a novice to understand. Good reading.

By all means get your hands on this book: "How to Work with and Modify the Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 Transmission" by Ron Sessions. Amazon carries it.

There are also videotapes available that walk you through it (available through the Eastwood catalog or Motorbooks). Armed with just the videos, I have rebuilt mine a couple times with without issue (especially when just throwing new friction material in there), and have diagnosed and repaired failed transmissions a couple times.

I also have had at least two occassions when I couldn't figure them out and had to take them to a shop. I am not above having someone more knowledgable bail me out when in trouble!!
