My friend is helping me put new seals in my dynaflow (1962 special), and he couldn' get the torque converter out. He said on other tranmissions he's worked on they usually just slide right out. Is there a trick? We don't want to force it.

    Thanks!

You may need to turn it and pull, then turn it again. Not sure about the dynaflow, but on a regular converter, there are several sets of splines to disengage. Same goes for installation, turn and push.

I don't know a thing about Dynaflows, but I'm thinking the torque converter has to be disassembled (comes of in pieces) from the front of the trans.

All those little bolts on the outside edge of the flywheel/torque converter have to come off to start the beginning of the converter removal process. Get a book!!!! It's not like any other "normal" converter, it comes apart in many pieces & has many thrust washers & spacers that MUST go back in the correct locations.

What he said :TU: Definately get a book, the dynaflow is not like anything you have ever seen. Jim Burek
