Laquer Thinner works real good. Pull the old stuff off and then the laquer thinner will clean up the adhesive.

Laquer thinner and a white scotchbrite pad. Don't want to mar the paint and cleans it off real quick. Make sure you lay something in the trunk as to not get the thinner on the new paint.

How is Goo Gone on car paint? It works well, but I'm not sure if it will mess things up.

3M makes adhesive remover, comes in a spray can and won't hurt the paint. :TU:

You can also buy this 3M adhesive remover is a rectangular can--liquid (not spray) form.

ALSO!!!---someone said above "lacquer thinner won't hurt the paint"----If you are worried about preserving the paint in the area you are removing glue I WOULD NOT use lacquer thinner!
