Been wanting to do something different with the wheels on the Riv. Liked the slots I had on there But they were just a bit to rough condition for the shows. Then I found and cleaned up the wheels on it now, which I like ok but being polished aluminium a real PITA to keep clean and shiny Have been wanting to go back to the factory rally wheels but the 6 and 7" width wont fit the tires I want to run and the small car wheels which I can get in 8 and 10" wide have the 4.75" on 5 bolt pattern. I've contacted several people that said they can widen the big car wheels but they never come through. Even contacted the guy that cuts wheels for Foose. He said he'd make anything I wanted for 4K a set. Little bit out of my price range. So I started thinking about something aftermarket with a "Buick" look. Theres only a few that I can think of that fit the bill. Keystone and I believe Craiger has one like that also. Open to ideas.
x2!!! In addition, your car would look more period correct. I really like the older style wheels on the older cars. I've even thought about a set of Keystones for my Skylark but decided to go with the painted steel wheels and dog dish caps this year. When I get tired of them I'll very likely go with Keystones or Ansen Sprints if I can find some originals in decent condition. I don't like the reproduction Ansens, the slots are way too big. They look like cartoon wheels.
I've had them on my car for about Twelve Years now. I forgot where I got them. Either Summit or jegs. If you call their sales Dept I'm quite sure they'll fix you up. Jim (Ponch)
I've always been partial to the American Racing Equipment 200S "Daisy Mags". I think you can get them custom made for about $200 apiece, maybe more in the higher widths. And I know that they carry the 5 on 5 bolt circle wheels.
Ok Problem, I've decided to go ahead and get the complete set. Went to Summit, Jegs and any other online store that I thought might handle these wheels. Everyone is out of stock on the 8's and 10" wheels. back order date is well beyond the nationals. Any of you guys got a lead on these wheels?
Yes! By far the best-looking wheel out there in my opinion. Had them on another car and will be getting them for my Buick as well.
I certainly do approve....have a set of 7"s on my '67 and keep 'em waxed up at all times. Make sure you get a good set of shank nuts for those lovely washers. They are period-correct: like the '70 GTO on two-lane blacktop:
Good morning Steve! I can't help you with your dilemma, but I too like the Keystones. It's raining up here in the mountains of Virginia. Probably no car show in the next town today, but it is a chilly 67 degrees which beats the heck out of So. Florida right now. Good luck!!!
