I just made a move from Idaho to California and being in the military I had to weigh the stuff I was moving myself. First I had to weigh my car empty and then with all of my stuff in it to get the amount I was moving. I was very surprised to find my car only weighs 3460 without a spare tire, jack or grille. Everything else is there. The car is entirely stock, no aluminum intake, headers or radiator. Is this the stock weight for a 69 GS California? It seemed rather lite to me. Hmmmmm, I think I'm going to go look over my car for missing parts. Engine; check Transmission; check 4 wheels; check How much does your car weigh?
My convertible weighs in a 4050 lbs. with a half tank of gas and spare in the trunk. I do have ps,pb, buckets, automatic and a/c.
Ooopppps! I thought I had put this up in the Bench forum. Oh well, no problem. I also have power stearing and had a full tank of gas. I still thought it was a little lite. Anyone wioth the power is more than welcome to move this to the Bench forum.
My Regal started out at 4150 then put it on an interior diet( lost most of the interior ) Now down to just over 3700. It's amazing how much thick padding and carpet weighes!
my 69 GS conv. with pw, ps, pdb, buckets and console, 455/400 weighs 4085# My low mile '69 Sky with 350/350, ps,pb and NO OTHER OPTIONS weighed 3700 Post cars were supposed to be alittle lighter than sedans, so if yours is a semi-stripper like this, maybe alittle lighter.
I forget, and can't check now that the new owner has the records. But it said on the Emissions test sheet which i passed! :TU:  4600 somethin' for a 1972 Buick Riviera.
"I just made a move from Idaho to California and being in the military I had to weigh the stuff I was moving myself. " I am just curious why? Some military rule?
The military actually pays movers to move all of our stuff for us. Or atleast the Air Force does. I had moved a small portion of my own goods and they'll pay me for the weight I moved. Not much though. I moved a little under 400 lbs and will probably make $30-$40 off of it. But hey, I was going to make the drive anyhow right. Helps make up for all of the money I dropped in Reno on the way home. Ouch!
All I know is my car is heavy and the 231 V6 doesn't help it move good enough, but it hauls good for 105 HP in a heavy car.
my '78 monarch(you said car not Buick ) weighs somewhere right over 4000lb. it looks alot lighter than it is. My '60 LeSabre is too heavy is all I know. The first week I had it the battery went dead at a gas station and we had to push it out of the way, we went to move it and it didn't budge. All of our other cars will move fairly easy but not this one
My 64 Skylark weighs 3740 with Al intake, headers, PS,PB, 12-bolt, 200-4r trans. no A/C and a bench seat. Sheesh, wait till I add the A/C.....oink oink.
73 Boattail Riv, little over 5000 and with my big butt in it we clear the 5000 pound mark by another 240, then we add a full tank of gas.............never mind you get the idea.
