I was am considering installing a "towing chip" in my `94 GMC Z-71 to give it a little more pep.I was wondering if anyone else on here uses a chip in their truck?Any problems?Any advice on selection?Pro's or Con's?
    Any advise appreciated.

Jeff i had a 98 dodge with a 318 that i put a Jet chip in. it helped a little but with a chip you also have to run premium fuel, especially when towing so is it worth the $$ for 20 hp??? i also cracked 2 heads from it pinging.

i now have a 99 dodge diesel that i put a chip in and it makes a big difference 65hp and 130 ft lbs at the rear wheels. :Brow:

just buy a diesel and you'll never go back to gas :3gears: the Duramax is 300hp and like 600 ft lbs from the factory, the HO Dodge is 305 hp and 625 ft lbs from the factory, i'm not sure what the Ford is :Do No: these readings are at the rear wheels :TU:

    Jet chip in my Aurora

I installed the Jet chip in my 2001 Olds Aurora, 4.0 Yes the little caddy motor and I have not notice any difference, only that it sets off thec check engine light if you do not turn it on and of just right. personally I would suggest saving the money for something else.

I use a superchip programer on my 02 Ford Powerstroke. I love it, I've never had any problems and it runs great. I've read that HP and Torque claims are very close to actual. For mine it's said to add 110 hp and 200 FT/lbs of torque on the highest setting. So that would be 360 hp and 700 ft/lbs!! :3gears:. I have a friend that uses one on his gas pick-up and he likes it also, but he doesn't run it on the highest setting so that he doesn't have to run the higher octane.

And it only takes about 5 min to make changes.

I also use a Superchips programmer for my Tahoe. I noticed more power, but I installed a Gibson exhust and a K&N cold air kit as well. The best thing about the programmer is the ability to tune the tranny.

You can do the same thing by putting a 3.3Kohm resistor in the Intake Air Temp sensor, and gain 15-20 HP and still not have to run Premium gas. Cost you about $4.00 to do this. If your interested E-mail me a fax number and I'll send it to you.
