I can't stand remade Christmas songs

If there's one thing I can't stand,it's the remade Christmas songs that are playing right now. I recently heard 'White Christmas' sung by someone I didn't recognize and it was terrible. The person singing it couldn't hold a tune if their life depended on it. Now,everyone knows that 'White Christmas' was sung by Bing Crosby, and to me,that is(and was) the best version and it still sounds great today.

Are there any other song remakes that you hate?

I agree, but I can't even stand the originals anymore. I once worked at a bank, and during Christmas they played the same old classics over and over - I got sick of it all.

I couldn't handle Christmas music for a long time, then I found some Spike Jones Christmas songs, Bob Rivers' Twisted Christmas, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra... I can listen to Christmas music again.

I agree, but there is nothing wrong with the old songs and the performers that sang them-it's the radio stations that play the songs over and over again.
That's what will drive you crazy.

bob rivers is a riot ...

but for regular traditional style christmas music ... my very favorite is a cd of the statler brothers called "christmas card". it is excellent.
it isnt counrty sounding or littered with a bunch of commercial crap .... it is about family and tradition, etc...

Speaking of traditional (or traditional for my family), I never get tired of The Chipmunks' Christmas. Great album.

Has anyone seen/heard "Santa Claus" on Jib-Jab. It's hillarious.

It is done, uhhh, selfishly. But it is funny.

I have to agree, rock stars should stick to their own music.

Those barking dogs that bark "jingle bells" drive me nuts!! :af:

It was playing this morning for like the billionth time. I thought it was cool the first time or two, but after a while it becomes annoying.

The absolute worst ever. Whomever wrote this should be _________ (fill in the blank)

Grandma got run over by a reindeer.
Walking home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
but as for me and grandpa we believe.
She'd been drinking too much eggnog,
and we begged her not to go.
But she forgot her medication, and she
staggered out the door into the snow.
When we found her Christmas morning,
at the scene of the attack,
she had hoof-prints on her forehead,
and incriminating Claus marks on her back.

Grandma got run over by a reindeer.
Walking home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
but as for me and grandpa we believe.

Now we're all so proud of grandpa,
He's been taking this so well.
See him in there watching football,
    drinking root beer and
    playing cards with Cousin Mel.
    It's not Christmas without Grandma,
All the family's dressed in black
and we just can't help but wonder:
Should we open up her gifts,
    or send them back?
    Send them back!!

Grandma got run over by a reindeer.
Walking home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
but as for me and grandpa we believe.

Now the goose is on the table
and the pudding made of fig
and the blue and silver candles
    that would just have matched
    the hair on grandma's wig.
    I've warned all my
    friends and neighbors
    better watch out for yourselves,
they should never give a license
to a man who drives a sleigh
    and plays with elves.

Grandma got run over by a reindeer.
Walking home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
but as for me and grandpa we believe

I know this is off topic, but who ever heard of naming someone "Axle"? What's his middle name, Shaft?

Why do they have to become arrangers?

The thing I hate the most is when they feel that the original melody wasn't good enough for them and they have to re-wright it. Sometimes it doesn't even sound like the same song.
I heard Porky Pig doing Blue Christmas this morning. I think it is great. My daughter couldn't understand why I thought it was so funny.
    Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!

your daughter probably never saw any of the porky pig, bus bunny, daffy duck, roadrunner cartoons. seems to me that certain people declared these cartoons to be too violent !

  18. I've about had it with Christmas music. The remakes suck, and hearing those stations that play like a month of nonstop Christmas music have really put me out of the mood of the season.

    (I'm such a grinch!)

ALL remakes of any genre hark me royal unless it is done in a totally different way.

Like the way Joe Cocker redoes songs.

Or the way Wilson Pickett redid Hey Jude.

Or Bob Seger's version of Steven Still's Love the One Your With.

Why redo a song the way it was done originally? Dread Zeppelin had it right. A fat, bloated, drugged-out Elvis singing reggae Led Zeppelin tunes. Awesome!

How about thrash Frank Sinatra songs sung by Al Jolsen? :TU:
