I opened this email, my firewall blocked the sender from accessing my computer and the attachment was also blocked......I don't even have an account at this bank........I'm going to just ignore it: Dear customer, We are to inform you, that our bank is doing new security procedures. I would get rid of that link. Members here might click on it, and be identified/targeted by these scammers!!!
I think we all need to learn to better identify spam/junk emails by their sender and subject line info, and simply delete them, without opening them at all. I've also been bombarded with those Sun Trust emails, and tons from fake Citibank too. Just hit the delete key, do not open.
Scam Emails I wonder why spam filter software doesn't catch more of this stuff. It seems like a grammer/syntax checker could be used to catch a ton of this crap - it's often so poorly written that it's a dead giveaway.
Looks like they went a little happy with the comma splice there. You're right John. In my PayPAl scam email there was even a typo!
I use Mailwasher here at work, and it does an excellent job of identifying spam emails and infected emails too. With mailwasher, I can delete the emails from our ISP's mail server without ever downloading them to my Outlook. Can safely view them in Mailwasher too, with no risk. At home, my cable service provider has very good filters that work so well, my McAfee rarely if ever even has a chance to catch any infected emails. I can also access the filtered messages and unblock good email sources, and delete the junk.
I get fake citibank emails all the time asking to confirm my account info. Yahoo just throws them in the spam folder.
They are just fishing for someone stupid to reply. Even my bank has a picture of someone fishing with one of these scam emails attached to a hook. Says dont get caught!!! REPUTAL banks never ask for private info!!!
Looks legit to me! Maybe you should try it, you don't want to risk your bank account... -Bob Cunningham
