Quick work is an understatement! This is the fastest frame-off in history. Nice touch with Duane's decals, too.
I wasn’t sure this car could get any better after seeing it in BG. Nice job John! Please start a thread on the 442 when you get going
Well....looks like Ole #302 really doesn't want to go to the Nationals this year. Got it pretty much finished and the brand new water pump I put on it let go, after a whopping 15 miles. EVERYTHING under the hood saturated with coolant. Didn't even take it out of the trailer once I brought it back. Just tired of dealing with it.
Dude, are you serious??? Bad pump/hoses maybe? Or you didn't even look because you're too exasperated at the moment? Sorry man. If it makes you feel any better, many reading this this would still rather have your green-bleeding GSX than their own cars.
Man...That's a huge bummer... My former 73 GS sat in my mom's barn over 8 years and I decided to put a motor back in and run it to Cecil Co.. The night before, about 6 PM, the waterpump decided to crap out. I ran to a local Advance auto for a waterpump and gasket, thrashed a couple hours and got back running about 10 PM. It made it to Cecil and home without any more issue!
I had (have) a new one (maybe 50 mi. on the engine) leaking. Definitely a bummer. 2 week to go. Hopefully you'll fix/bring it once the sting wears off. Shame after all the work you've done (& in a very impressive time frame!).
Ohhhhhh Man that sucks soooooo badly. So sorry to see this John but thankfully its something that can be fixed but I know its beyond a pain after all the detailing under the hood and hours of work.
Sorry to hear this, all the work. Be sure to get that antifreeze rinsed off or it will stain all that beautiful work you did.
Nelson is correct and I'm sure you likely already rinsed it all off. About a month after my new motor went in - and I thought I'd figured out what was wrong with my thrice "built" Q-Jet - I had my mechanic buddy in the driver's seat to see if he could notice any difference in performance. Just as he shifted into 4th gear, coolant started spraying out of the right side of the hood, between the hood and fender. We immediately pulled over to find one of the heater hose clamps loosened and my freshly detailed engine (and engine bay) were completely saturated in anti freeze. Some of the black tape on my brand new harness had even melted. Nonetheless, water and compressed air were the remedies and 4 years later, there's no way of telling that ever happened. You've done an amazing job on that X and still have some time left to button it up before BG. Don't let it keep kicking you in the nuts. Have at it!!
beautiful car, awesome job, I do feel your pain. Happen to me right before the Nationals last year , except mine was the timing cover gasket. Talk about a kick in the groins? All I could do was sleep on it for a couple of days and go at it again. All that work paid well to receive a Concourse Gold. Fernando
I didn't open the trailer door till 8:00 last evening. Gonna start disassembly and cleaning in the next hour or so.
