I specifically took pictures yesterday before starting a rear brake job on my 1973 Centurion.
The longer shoe with more material was installed toward the front of the car.
I installed new raybestos shoes and drum on the drivers side.
The passenger side gets done today as all the hardware is getting blasted including the backing plate.

I lubricated the adjusters and they are installed at their shortest length.
I sanded the shoes and roughened the surface of the drum, and still had to really work to get the drum over the new shoes.

I've been searching the net and everyone claims the short shoe goes toward the front of the car.
Is this true for all cars?
If so,looks like I'm redoing the drivers side. [IMG]
