I really hate lawnmowers and snowblowers too. The word LABORIOUS comes to mind. Not driving them, but working on them! ws

I thinks thats where all the engineers went from mopar that couldnt make the cut in automotive...

Wife somehow derailed a drive belt on the L side. That was way harder than it should have been to get back into its correct place.

    The rest of the story...
I received my new E-140 on September 2. It ran like a POS. I called Lowe's and asked them to fix it. They said that they would prefer to replace it. They delivered E-140 #2 today. This one runs great. Before making the purchase I did a bit of research and found that the E-140 is the only 100-series garden tractor that does not come standard with the "30 second oil change" feature. (That's one reason why I selected the E-140).
If any of you are Thinking about buying a JD 100 series tractor, you should be aware that the 30 second oil change kit does not change all of the oil. JD in it's owners' manual is up front about that and calls it a partial oil change. The good news is that according to some of the reviews that I read, JD mowers can be converted back to a regular oil filter without much difficulty, and several of the reviewers did just that at the first oil change. The phrase that came up in several of the reviews was that the 30-second oil change is a "gimmick".
The E-140 does fix the two most irritating issues with my old L-120; It has a much sharper turning radius and has a strong reverse gear as opposed to the weak reverse in my old JD. I still like Briggs and Stratton engines - the old L-120 recently passed 1,000 hours, and I spent three hours over the Labor day weekend cutting grass with it. I'll give it a going over and then decide whether I keep it as a spare or try to get a few bucks for it.
