I built my 3 car 25' x 35' garage 10 years ago with a 12' ceiling then bought and had installed 3 four post lifts so I have a 6 car garage plus workshop area and potty. Each of my lifts is a different model offered by the company. I bought them based on the height of the cars I wanted to store. The highest is my special body Model 'A' Ford pickup at 6'-8" tall which is also the height of my F250 Ford pickup. As you increase the clear height between finished floor and bottom of elevated platform the lift gets longer for each inch of clearance you want.

I have three different lifts with different height clearances. I started with the company's Standard lift, then the second is their 'SUV' model with a couple more inches of clear height and finally I had one built for 7'-2" clear to give me plenty of room for the 6'8" I needed. Turns out the 6'-8" lift is the longest one but my garage being 25' deep accommodated it with no problem. I am constantly moving cars around and the lifts have worked fine except where I screwed up once and left a 4x4 block of wood on the floor where one side of the lifts ramp came down on it. I did not see the block of wood so I kept the ramp coming down and when it stopped on the floor I had managed to pop one of the cables off it's pulley. With an understanding of the problem and a call to the original installer he directed me on how to loosen the cable, get it back on the pulley and then re-adjust the lift to level and it has worked well every since.

The photos below show two of the three lifts as the 6'-8" lift was a special order and took longer while the Standard and SUV models were in stock. I only wish my garage looked like the photos do. Now it is full of 'stuff' between lifts plus cars and every other vacant space. I have to get to the stuff and organize or get rid of it! Garage now holds my two 67 GS 400 cars, 73 Riv, 2 Model 'A's, and the 2007 Corvette Indy Pace Car. The 1969 Riviera is under a 10 x 20 tent and the 1921 Buick is in storage. I have a 24' enclosed Pace trailer I sometimes use for car storage when I am moving things around and need space.

I sold the 2006 SSR this past spring.
