So I just bought a rebuilt 2 bbl Rochester carb from everyday performance since my previous one was practically urinating gas. I installed it and everything looks perfect but I just know that its not running right due to the idle mixture screws. I mean it sounds decent, but I know its just not there. Can someone please walk me through on how to set them up?

Buy a vacuum gauge abd hook it up to a source that gives vacuum at idle.

    Block the wheels very well.

turn the idle mixture screws all the way in till they LIGHTLY seat.

back the idle mixture screws out 2 full 360 degree turns

start the car and set the idle speed to spec

put the car in gear with e brake on

adjust both the idle screws in half a turn.

If the idle speed rises then lower it back to spec and turn the idle mixture screws in a quarter turn. (If the idle speed drops then back the screws out to your original setting of 2 turns and try half a turn out from there)

Use a note book to record the vacuum readings at the various idle mixture settings.

Keep fine tuning the screws till you get the max amount of vacuum.
