Should I put this thing back on my car when I install the engine, or is it superfluous?

    Thanks, Frank

    SkylarkSteve Hello Michael

Are you talking about the idle stop selenoid? If you're using the same carb that came with the engine you probably will since I don't think it would have the screw in the normal spot to control the idle. If you're using an earlier carb from before they ever used the selenoid then you don't need it.

They used a dashpot...I no longer run mine, and I don't seem to be having problems with the car stalling if I let off the gas too fast.

If you have AC, I would install the 72-up ac idle solenoid. This is a great design and well worth the installation.
