I pulled my car out of the garage yesterday and drove it for the 1st time in 8 years now that the frame off is nearly completed. I did a once over and checked the fluids and tightened the lug nuts and made sure nothing was leaking and said a payer because a maiden voyage could go horribly wrong. My wife and daughter came out of the house in total surprise with the car sitting in the driveway and hearing the exhaust rumbling.

The interesting thing is - I've been married 7 years and my wife has never taken a ride in the car and my daughter is 5 and she never seen it move under it's own power and it was an exciting day for the family. It's no longer considered "the thing in the garage".

It felt really smooth with the exception of a few minor things. Steering squealed a little as there was air in the lines although it went away on it's own, 3rd gear needs to be adjusted because it would grind if I pushed the shifter handle too far and reverse is tight. I'm expecting my new carb tomorrow and the motor should run much better after we dial it all in. I havent registered it yet and like an idiot I'm driving around my neighborhood without license plates with a huge grin, but didn't care.. It's fully insured and I know the cops anyway..

I'll take it out this week and post some pics. I still need to install the carpet and some trim parts.

    See you at the Nationals.
