Heard the Ohio boys are being rejected at the Cecil County race due to IHRA cert and not NHRA.
Super air....hope they get to run tomorrow. Get certified by then????

What are they being rejected for besides the license? Hopefully everything works out and everyone gets to race.

    Hey Gang.....Live update.

We will be leaving for home early in the AM tomorrow because the track officials will not accept our IHRA drivers license. Our car is certified in both IHRA and NHRA. So... we go home without a pass along with John Schmidt, Dave Mongeon and Paul Pirnat. Better Luck next time!!!!

Sorry you guys could not make a pass. The track techs were by the book this year and will be from now on! Anyone coming for Saturday better have everything NHRA legal for your times because they are not letting anything go by this year. Sorry this happened this way but it is out of my control. More updates tomorrow night.

It seams that they should have had time to do your license passes on Friday if your car had the cert. The IHRA and NHRA have had some fights over the last couple of years with rules and this is what has been happening at some of the tracks. I have been hesitant to make my car faster because of the license and extra safety equipment along with the chassis cert for my car. Almost makes me glad that I didn't make the tow out now, I have a hunch that I would have gone fast enough to get thrown out after seeing what John Stevens ran yesterday. I have run next to John enough times to predict my ET from his, looks like it would have been solid in the 9.90 range out there this year. Very sorry to hear about the wasted trips out there for the Ohio gang, it isn't cheap to tow out with the gas and toll prices these days. John Z is such a nice guy that he even kept his post here civil, I would have been livid after the cost of that trip and being sent home dry. You can bet that if there was anything that John Csordas could have done to help it would have happened, he does an awesome job with this event and others and works his tail off for us. We plan to tow out again next year for this event and we will have all of our stuff ready for both NHRA and IHRA by then.

Thanks for the kind words Dennis. Rules are rules and they are there for our safety. If todays mishap with Bob Makley would have happened to a racer with only an IHRA running in the 9's there would have been hell to explain to the NHRA from the track owner. We were all upset a few guys could not race yesterday ( I really felt terrible and I tried everything to get at least a 60' lauch for the guys) but this was a lesson that we must all be licensed and legal for the times that our cars run. Thank God Bob's car was built way over board and with stood such a crash. Hope to see you next year at Cecil Dennis.

Just an add on John Z.

John Schmidt's NHRA license had just expired by 2 or 4 months (not exactly sure) and Pauls cage certification had also expired.

They were by the book and the tech guy does all their official NHRA events. In the past we had a different tech guy where they have let people slide. But from what I heard they did had a fatal crash some years back and they now stuck to the letter of the rules. Unfortunate, but a must for our own good. We also had some guys running low 11's with no bars and they got spanked. But an important lesson was learned by a very unfortunate circumstance with Bobb's accident. Had it been a car with no cage, or just a roll bar it would have been far worse and that is a fact. Bobb was smart enough to have a cage installed and certified being legal for the 9's and that heads-up thinking saved an even worst disaster. Bobb our prayers are with you.

We did try to get around things such as license runs, but the tech guy wanted a physical sheet first prior to any runs. As with the IHRA and NHRA pissing match yeah it sucks and we all get caught in the middle as John Csordas said there was nothing we could have done. This was sprung on us with no warning. Lastly we did suggest that these cars not legal for 9's be let to run slower times. We did manage to get Gary Paine in as he convinced the guy by running slower times until dialing a 10.00 and like always he was a tough nut to beat. (He put me on the trailer making me run a 9.344 on a 9.35)

John it bites big time seeing you guys with your new car and not being let to run at all, wish it was different.

Even though we were disappointed, it was a great time!!! Rules are rules, have to respect that as well as the safety benefits. Regardless, I enjoyed meeting alot of great people, had alot of laughs, and too many :beer

Rules are Rules, and my belts did not pass,(2.5 months expired) I was able to get an updated set from John Mossuad after his motor let go, and ran the weekend, best E.T. of 10.48 @ 127mph and fastest time ever of 129.59@10.52.
I would like to personally thank all people involved for a great weekend, awsome weather, and great racing action! my condolences to the Makkley family, get well Bobb!!!

The Csordas Family, thank you, thank you, John, Nancy, John Jr. you folks are a class act, you made everything work out just fine. I will be there next year!!

Congrats to Quick 16 winner, Mike Pollack and Gambler race winner, Randy Kolasinski!!

  11. Another great year at cecil thanks to the csordas family. Once again they came thru in a big way.It started out to be a horror show right off the bat when the track only expected 15 or so cars to show up.Then there was no food to be found and the gas guy and the tower person were late. Then with tec being so tough this year it just lead from one thing to another. But instead of people coming to johnny and asking what could they do to help all they did was get mad and put the blame on him. Enough is enough if it was not for johnny's quick thinking of ordering 30 pizza's and sending me for 12 cases of soda and water nobody would of had anything to eat or drink. He could of charged you all for it but he is not like that he offered it to everyone there including the track staff for FREE. Nobody seems to see or appricate what the csordas name means to this club. A few did offer to pay for it and that was very nice of you to do so. Just remember for next time before you start yelling and crying about how bad things are maybe just maybe ask what can i do or a simple thank you for doing your best to make a bad day turn out to be a good one.I would also like to thank everyone who mad a doniation for the terriable accident that happened to Bobb another thing that was started by the csordas family. Our prays are with you and your family Bobb.

    Hey Rick,

It was dissapointing to say the least that we did not get to run our new car. But I do understand there insurance regulations. I will get our NHRA License and be back again next year to race with you guys.

I have talked with several people over the last few days and most of them have said there IHRA license was excepted at NHRA tracks as long as it wasn't a points race. It will be interesting to see how IHRA reacts to this rule next year. Will we all have to carry both IHRA and NHRA license??? OH... I have not received confirmation on this one but it seems that this insurance policy provided by IHRA and NHRA will only be covered at a sanctioned event. As I do more research I will give feedback.

    Take Care
    John

Hey John come to think of it...hhmmmI though I saw Doug slipping the tech guy a few twenties saying something about not letting quitters run  :Brow:

Just joking there, I was really bummed, your car looked sweet and was biting my lip waiting to see if we could get you and Dave Mongeon to line up. It would have been great, I guess I have to wait until Norwalk to see you run it. Keep us posted if you take it out before this season ends.

Thanks for the kind words everyone and just for the record Carl Ijames from the old Mags club stepped up and donated $200 towards the pizza party at the track. The track did refund us $800 for all the confusion on Friday and then personally donated $200 to the Makley family and called me personally Saturday night and Sunday afternoon to check on Bobb's condition. Jim Hallsey and Cecil County Dragway are a class act and stepped up and did the right thing after some tense moments on Friday and Saturday. Mark your calendars for October 7 & 8, 2005 because the East Coast Nationals will only get even better!
Once again the Csordas family thanks you all for the kind words as well as the generousity to the Makley family.

    Joy,

Definately agree with being disappointed. Though I have to say I had a blast at dinner Saturday night with you and Paul. I haven't had a good laugh like that in a long time. Only regret was that I missed Friday night with you all. Would have like to see both John Schmidt and Doug Hecker pie eyed drunk, heard you guys had a great time then. I guess we will have to reserve and call ahead for the cab driver Joey Love. That poor guy will never be the same

Oh and I like the line Paul told the tech guy after he blasted that 9 second run and even before getting out of his car the tech guy was chasing him down with his little scooter in the pits. That was funny!
