I am back and running again! For those who didnt see the posts, I blew my last 350 all over the hiway last memorial day weekend. Search for the thread, there were good carnage pics. Since then I have been burning time and money to get another 350 built for the end of the summer. specs: '72 350 .030 overbore, 9:1 compression Comp 268 cam (.469/.469 lift, 218/218 dur at .050), lifters, springs Mildly ported 72 heads, 68 cast iron intake, gasket matched 68 Rochester Quadrapuke 750cfm Hooker headers I started it today, did the 30 minute cam break-in thing, changed the oil, and am back in business! I drove it easy maybe 15 miles today. Ran great once I set dwell and initial timing! I also took some backlash out of the 3.73 rear while the car was down, and the howl is all gone! niiice.... I will attach a pic of the new motor, looks nice with fresh paint. I do have a question though. How long would it be advisable to wait before romping on the new motor? Is there a standard for that type of thing? I had heard 500 miles at one point?..... I have to be careful. If I blow this one up I am all done.
I remember your horror story - lookin' good now! 500mi sounds good to me just to be safe if anything. :beers2: DD
