Those are nice cars pat, the 427's were awesome cars. I wouldn't stop ya from buying one of those-good power, easy-er to find parts(and cheaper), only problem is, you will find that buying a chevy like that as a whole will be a lot more expensive than a buick as a whole. Buick and chevy are opposites when it comes to price-chevy's are easy to find and cheap parts, but as a whole car, they are way more expensive. Buick parts are hard to find and expensive, but as a whole, the car is way cheaper. Guess it depends on budget and taste... :TU:

BTW, the Bling-Bling rims, who in the right mind would put those on anything?? Those have to be the ugliest.................................... :Dou:

I really am taken with the SS427 that was available in 67 that had the special hood. They made a little over 300 of those and they are super rare.I have always liked the 65-70 BB Chevy Impala's but the 67 seems to really catch my eye.I don't ever see me selling all of my Buicks Unless I want to get another Buick.I know my chance has passed of getting an X but I will be just as satisfied with my 350 cars as well.Ijust need to one of the darn things finished!!! This year for sure the Bamboo car will be drivable and next year...The 71. I wont stop till they are...

    Pat,
I've done a few Imp/SS restos and the sad thing is you can do one for about 30% the cost and about 25% less time because parts are readily available.
You can also buy a crate motor for one of these with many upgrades for what it costs just to rebuild a 455.
But it takes away the "thrill of the hunt"! I've owned almost a dozen SS Chevelles over the years and most have been show winners and incredible street beasts but it became "old" after a few years when I realized there were soooooo many similar cars around. Like owning a Camry!
This is one of the reasons I gravitated towards the Buick A-bodies. Same platform but more of a novelty. :TU:

Pat, The black looks great and ready to roll.
I dont know if it is the computer picture but I think you can see the paint blending on the fender to door and door to quarter panel. If you go that route "Chevy" just ship your Buicks to me in Las Vegas and I will keep them in good old rust free Nevada.

I didn' know any one made a suspension lift kit for old cars. I'll bet Gregs 1 ton dually rides better than that thing. That thing is uglier than sin.

    Dang,
I typed out a story, hit the post button, came back from another window thinking it had posted, then stupidly hit refresh and lost it still in the Quick Reply box!!!

    Anyhow,

Back around the mid 80's, when I was just starting driving, my father and I went out to Granite Falls, WA and looked at a 67 Impala SS427 convertible. It was a triple black 4 spd car!!!

It was on a piece of property with a barn, some other buildings, and several older cars scattered around. I remember seeing the Pontiac version of the Chev Nomad. The Impala was sitting on the covered, but open, side of the barn. It had been sitting for several years, but appeared to be complete. It also appeared to pretty much need everything done to it also. I do specifically remember it having that hood. My dad and I had never seen one before!

Dad was teaching me about "#'s matching" information as he was into the 55-7 Chev's at the time. He found the motor code which I remembered to be IE. We looked it up and found this to be the code for the 65 Corvette 396/425 horse motor. But, it was also correct for this car.

When I first typed this out, I thought I remembered it to be a 4 spd car and the IE code. I went and tracked down a place online with the motor codes which appears to confirm it here:

That was when I came back and nuked my post.

Oh yeah, the car was $1000. At the time that was way too much, and we passed...

Just think what it would be worth today in the same, complete condition!

That's probably so they don't have to raise the car up to change the oil.

It's like "BLING BLING" Check out all my shiny ghetto style add ons. Like spinning rims, jewelry and other crap that is really oversized and shiny!

Got some jewelry on your car? That's pretty bling bling... Bad taste stuff, grotesque, a big gem stone for a hood ornament maybe... ? Have a look at pimp my ride on Mtv.

Here I always thought "bling, bling" was the noise all those gold chains made when they clanked against each other.
