For your avitar, the picture can not be more than 150x150 pixels.
Also, jpeg files seem to work better than bitmaps.
    Try this one...

  6. Looks like you'll be needing some trunk trim pieces there! It also looks like you have a Skylark trunk lid, as evidenced by the holes on the right side for the "Skylark" script emblem. I have an extra "GS350" emblem that mounts just below the lock, if you might be interested. I've seen the 2 long stainless pieces on ebay several times, don't have extras myself.

Also, I will combine your several picture posts into one thread, that sound ok? No need to start a new thread for each pic. :)

  7. Oops, nevermind about the GS350 emblem! You wouldn't want that on your GS400...

$1,000 For that piece of junk? Boy did you get taken. But just cause I feel bad for a new guy, I'll give you $1,100 right now.

    I mean, really, for $1,000:
-- The engine should be in pieces in the trunk.
-- The interior should be on the ground, where you can see it through the floorboards
-- The wheels should be non-stock and bent, with four different size bald or dry-rotted tires.

Nice deal -- gonna be a sweet ride. Hurry up and put Gramlow to shame.

    -- Steve

Thanks for the help guys, but not gonna hurry. Don't know Gramlow yet. I want to do this the right way. I appreciate the whopping 100.00 profit margin you offered Steve, but I think I'll just suffer my losses in the long run. By the way, what's this thing worth in good shape? I have no idea, but it's gotta be more than 1100.00 Thanks David, but I have all the chrome pieces for the trunk, and the GS400 emblem for the trunk also. I need a rear window, with rubber, the grill GS emblem, and the plastic grill. So far.........Thanks again..........Bob

  12. Hi Bob,

Glad to hear you have the trim pieces, they can be hard to find, in decent shape. I might have an extra grille emblem, will have to do a search this weekend. If I find it, you can have it for shipping. Might need painting. The rear glass might have to come from a salvage yard. Check your local windshield shops though, but I've heard the rear is very expensive. Front glass can be had for $200 +/-, installed. The correct GS plastic grille will be harder too. If you have one that's damaged, we have a member here that does beautiful repairs/restorations, he is daves69 on the board. Otherwise, watch ebay and post in the parts wanted forum here. Good luck! :)

Thanks David. The grill that I have, the grill itself is in tact. It's the bolt holes around the grill that are busted off. I'll try and get a picture later today, and post it up, and see if Daves69 can do anything with it. Will the rear glass from a plain jane 68 skylark work? I've found a couple of those, just don't want to tell them it's for a GS, or the price goes up. Thanks again. Oh. If you can find the emblem, I'm going to strip and rechrome and paint the existing ones. I'd be more than happy to pay the shipping for it, and I owe you one.

  14. Yes, the Skylark rear glass will be the same as a GS. I'll try to have a look for the emblem this weekend. I know I sent one out last year, but I think I have another.

    What's it worth?

Well, one of our bretheren is having trouble moving his '68 GS350 4spd for $8K and it looks like a great car.

Timing is important. Furthermore, the following for 1968 muscle cars is probably at the low end of the demand spectrum.

For no particular reason I can think of the 1968s are not popular compared to other years and have lower sales value. True for GSs, SSs, 442s, Corvettes, Mopars, etc. Seems like folks like the 69-72s or the 65-67s. 1968 is the lost child. Some years ago the 68 Corvette was the black sheep. You could buy a nice 427 4spd for under $10K easily. Now the prices have recovered to be more or less even with the 69-72 cars.

That said, I really like my 68GS400. Drives like a dream. Have fun with yours. The 68s are a lot better than most people give them credit for.

  16. Actually that listing is only a week old, so you can't really say at this point that he's having a hard time selling it, here on the board anyway. You are right though Mike, the 68's and to a lesser extent the 69's, are not as popular as the 70-72 models. I think the performance factor is part of it, since the 455 wasn't out til the 70 model year. Some don't care for the unique styling of the 68/69 cars too, but that's one of the reasons that I prefer my 68. That being said, if I ever can afford another, it will be a 70 GS or Skylark. :)

I think he has had it for sale for a while, off and on, I remember seeing it on ebay before. Caught my eye as it was a local car.

Since I already have a 69 and 70, maybe my next one will be a 68. Red with a black interior, 4 speed, low mileage (hopefully still under 20k), dog dish hubcaps, bench seat. Anybody out there have anything like that for sale in a few years? Maybe coming from IL or MS?
