If anyone has made their own media blasting cabinet, and I'm sure some have, I'd like to know you did it and where you purchased your parts and supplies. I'm starting from scratch and I appreciate any and all information on the subject.
    Thanks

I'll give a big :TU: for TIP. I built my cabinet about ten years ago from the plans they sell, modified it slightly to make it a little bigger. I used 3/4" plywood and bought all the components from them. Once you have one you won't know how you ever did without it.

There was a pair of articles in Auto Restorer mag during the last 2 years. I think the guy built a cab in the first one and redesigned the vac system in the second.

after our new shop is built, im gonna try to make one from an old washer and dryer ... stack/fasten th dryer on top of the washer....

gut the washer, remove the lid and use it for holding the "catch" bag.
i have an old dryer i will gut and cut out some of the door opening paint the inside some shiney silver to help spread light, and replace the dryer door with some 3/4 inch plexi.
im gonna try to use some racing "tear offs" to help keep the plexi nice. piano hinge the rear panel on the dryer so large items can be put in.
i have several new sets of gloves made for a blasting cabinet that i picked up at one of my fave salvage stores for 3 bux a set.
cut holes and mount the gloves. mount some short floresent lights with plexi protection vertical in the corners and maybe horizontal above the door/window.

ad a few slants of tin to herd the media into the washer ....and VIOLA!!!!
if it breaks down ,,,, i just call the MAYTAG repair man.:bglasses:

I bought mine about 4 1/2 years ago from Eastwood. They have since discontinued the model. It took about 5 hours to assemble it but is a very nice unit[I only wish I siliconed all the panels] its a bench top model but very large and sufficient for what I need to do,I am always using it for everything and don't have any complaints.
I do see a few once in awhile that look like they might be better, but at the time the one I got was top-o-the -line. Like everything else someone is always improving on a product.!!
The one I have from Eastwood is very good, and it will serve me well for all intended purposes.
My advice is to do research and shop around, cause as soon as you buy one, sure as s--- you'll see one better!!:Smarty:
