What do you show as the application for these inner fender skirt part numbers?

Can anyone run the other numbers?

Jim. I will have a look in next few days. Part numbers are listed in the assembly manuals in the front end sheet metal section.

Yes I have all those publications but I only see the number Roberta confirmed. These may be for another GM car.

    Jim,

My 71 book shows 1237218 as a 71 RH inner.. it lists 1231154 as the 70 RH inner, both of these are for the 3000-4000 series

It shows 1231155 as the 70 LH, and 1237219 as the 71 LH, once again, the 3000-4000 series

No listing for the other two numbers in the January 71 book.

My April '83 edition is less help, it simply lists the ***7218 as all A 70-72 RH, and lists 1239861 for all A LH

From my experience with the books, I would suggest that the 71 book is representative of the part numbers that were factory installed in those years, those options were later boiled down to just two service replacement fenders, and the 83 book has those numbers in it.

I have been looking for a mid year 72 or a 73 parts book, which would more than likely have those numbers in it, I might suggest that if they are used, they are 72 inners, if they are new, then it could be early service replacement numbers.

As Dave said, the assembly manuals may shed some light on this further. Unfortunately mine are still packed, I cam across the parts books yesterday while unpacking, and remembered this thread.

    Jim,
The assembly manuals say basically the same thing,
1231154 (for the entire 70 model year)
1237218 (for the entire 71-72 model years)

I don't know what changed but something was altered for the 71 production year. It may have been something as simple as a piercing hole location.

1239863 I learned is for a NOS 68-72 Chevelle LH inner fender

Guys... kinda hate to rehash this but.... I have an NOS IFW... located through a local parts counter friend at Maher Chevy prolly 25 years ago... He had an old ONLINE GM parts list that was non inventoried ?. Dont recall what he actually called it but... I asked him to run a 70 GS grille and also this p/n: 1237220. Suprising enufly, the GS grilles showed up in several places.. ONE such place was a Chevy Dealer not far from me HAD an NOS, still in the original old beatup box AND another was Darby Buick in Bradenton FL. I bought them both.

Another dealer in New Berlin? NJ showed they had a 123722O part, and when I called the Parts Manager, he said he shows it SOMEWHERE in his warehouse, but couldnt find it that day. He told me he would continue persuing and call me back. ya. right.

3 MONTHS. ya, 3 months later the guy calls me and tells me he had the part in his hand! :TU: One of his mechanics found it hangin in the rafters above the parts area... IMAGINE THAT! :Brow: His description claimed it was obviously never installed and sported several shelf dings/dents and 25 years worth of dust! He had no idea how to price it because it was well off the pricing guide by then so he sold it to me for the cost of shipping. It was shipped via some interstate~dealer to dealer shipping network...I think it cost me like $30.

Anyway, it was inventoried as a 70 Skylark RH inner fender skirt 1237220.

I still have this and it is now being prepped for my 70 stage 1.

QUESTION IS... as per above thread, did anyone actually figure out for certain if this is correct for a 70?

I went through 3 parts books and 1237220 does not show up in any of them.

    Is it the casting number???

Well... OK just so ya'll understand, I am not really concerned about becoming a "Numbers Nazi" over this because my 70 Stage 1 is not numbers matching. However my intent is to build my car as close to 100% correct appearing... at least that what I'm shooting for.
Anyway, here are some pix to ponder.... the numbers are clear and there is a smaller part number I've tried to show that is hard to see, but it appears to be a "220" ie: 220th day of 70? or maybe 71? or heck perhaps even 72??

Nevertheless,. . .THE NUMBER 1237220 DOES EXIST IN MANUALS SOMEWHERE...???

MY POINT HERE IS THIS; ...I would like to know with ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY what the correct application is for this particular part.
JUST IN CASE someone out there is restoring a concourse GSX or Stage 1, or ?? and is determined on using ONLY factory original/correct parts, ie Mike Sabotka, Mark Lob, China Mike, Mark Reeves just to name a few off the top of my feeble brain, .... I would consider swapping this inner fender skirt with a new repop from Mark Reeves...
As I stated, its beatup a bit, has dents and slight surface rust from sitting. There are NO punched holes for splash/mud guards, and this thing still sports some 35 year old dust... no extra charge for dust particles from the fall of 1970!

    I'm jist sayin', K?

That's a casting number, not a part number.

That is a part number I believe. It starts with the 123 digits which is correct for the 70 time frame. I have some of the same inners with the same numbers. They look correct. Also I recall I have some with the GM sticker on them bearing those as the part numbers. I will look sometime and post a picture.

The 1237220 is a stamped (cast) ID number.

GM dealers that can not identify nor want to scrap a new part will sometimes inventory the
part under the cast or stamped number for the purpose of inventory location. During my years in Buick dealers and at inventory time I've had to track down these numbers for pricing.

    1237220 = 1237218 (in May of '72 Buick states "ALL 1970-72 A bodies)

    1237221 = 1237219

Do you know what casting numbers would be for '70 inner fenders?

I show the part #s as 1231154 (right) and 1231155 (left) in group # 8.153.
