I'm trying to finish cleaning up my engine bay and I have a new set of splash guards to put on. There is currently only one on the driver's side. The passenger side inner fender does not have any holes for the staples. What's the best way to attach the splash guard? Is there an easy way to put the holes in the fender for the staples, should I use an adhesive? :Do No:

    TIA,

    Brian,
It was suggested to me to use a drill with a bit a bit bigger that the staples and drill the rubber and inner fender and install the shield. Then use a body dolly(or perhaps a block of wood to hold the staple in and hammer the underside over. Since it is on the car,you will most likely have to remove the wheel and need help to do it. I have the exact same problem, but whoever put the other set on pop riveted instead of stapling. I m better off than you since my inner is off the car at the moment.I bet a good 1/2 hour to an hour will be needed to do this.

I just had the fender off last week when I installed AC delete box. :Dou:

    Thanks for the help,

Pat is right on the money, Brian. I have installed several sets of these....drill/hammer/dolly just as Pat said....the only thing that may help is if you tape the splash guard onto the well prior to drilling just to hold it in place.

As for how many staples to use, it really matters not, from my experience. I've seen as few as five staples to as many as eleven staples holding them on...and these were all factory installed. Just my .02 worth. Take your time, and good luck!
