My 80 LeSabre electric choke would not work. The wire tested out twelve volts like it should, but it would not activate. The engine light was on and I assumed (correctly) that switching from an oil light to a gage was the source of the light. I used a piece of Metal to complete the circuit, since it was a two prong plug. After that the choke worked!!!!! I didn't think of this first cause my Regal electric choke works fine with the same plug dissconnected. I just thought I'd pass this on.

I think some electric choke units are self grounding and don't need a ground wire hooked up. But those are ones that I see with only one prong.

What did you hook up to make it work? An idiot light sensor??:puzzled:

And what type of electric choke is it?

I simply used a piece of metal to compete the circuit at the oil sender plug. After that, the choke worked. Somehow the choke and oil sender use the same circuit.
