    69GS400s ...my own amusement ride!

Just thought I'd post this talk I had with the owner,Fred, of the bodyshop I had my car at this week.....the guy who restored my car, Billy, used to own his own shop but now works for Fred. I've passed along about 20K in collision work their way so I collected on my IOU and had them buff out the car for the upcoming BPG Nats......

.....I go to pick up the car and Fred is the only one there. He gets the keys and walks with me over to the car and has "That Look" in his eyes and says, "I used to own a few Buicks in the day....." So I asked what kind ?? He answered, "A few mid to late 60's.....but my favorite was my Stage2 '70" :eek2:

Im thinking.....Yeah, Right !! Everyone had a stage2 '70....they grew on trees !! So, I said "Wow....those Stage2 heads were pretty rare - how did you come by them ??"

He answers....."My Uncle was the service Mgr. of a Local Buick dealership and he knew I was into the Buicks, so one night he brought home an internal document stating that a limited number of Stage2 heads would be available to the dealerships by special order only. He asked, If i was interested in them he'd check into it. I said YESSS !!! Please do !!!"

He continued...."I asked....and asked ....and asked my Uncle and everytime the answer was the same - "I dont know when, or if EVER, they will come in but I'll keep asking and let you know when I find anything out" I almost forgot about them....and then one day - at least 9 months after he first told me about the Stage2's - my uncle called and said I should stop over his house after work. I got there, and in the back of his Estate Wagon were 2 brand new sets of heads along with the special headers"

He went on to describe the round ports and everything else that make them special. I asked if he ever took the car to the track, and he said not that often.....he usually just street raced it and won ALOT of money. I asked what the car ran, and he said mid to high 10's. I asked what happened to them and the car (hoping that maybe :Do No: he still had them ) and he said he sold the car a long time ago - it kept breaking rear ends and after killing about 8 of them, he got tired of it and sold the whole lot :ball:

thought someone might enjoy hearing this......
