Is it me or is backseat space disappointing?

did you go with glass on the new top?
if so, do you have the proper arms/springs to keep the new glass from getting shattered when lowering the top?

I decided to go with a plastic window for budget reasons.

I've got the "problems" pretty much down though. I would like to get to changing the speakers in the dash which won't be fun, need to change my speedo drive gear again (reads too fast), and need a pair of rear quarter panels. Are there rust repair panels yet? The left side isn't bad but the right's not looking good. At least the underbody is solid

day to day driving i prefer plastic windows they are just less of a headache.
speakers aint too bad, just pull the dash pad on a warm day or in a warm garage from over night warmth. have help so you wont flex it much.. they get pretty brittle. the glove box bolts sometimes dont like it.

i have some decent used oem dash speakers from my old 76 lesabre if you are needing some.

maybe when the new OPGI B body catalog comes out we can both purchase some new sheet metal.

if you by chance have the stainless trim that runs along the lower trunk lip above the taillights... treat it like gold. they are hard to find. thats why you see so many 74s with the trim removed from the corner of the quarter above the end of the taillight. those trim peices were good at falling off during the first year of ownership.

The quarterpanel patch panels are available from Sherman. I have used them for my car and they worked out great.

oh, i thought sherman quit making those.:Dou:

    my soon future project is...
i have a pair of complete NOS 74 lesabre taillight/housings/lenses/gaskets/seals/reverse lights/bezels,etc., NOS 74 fenders and rust free inners, a couple NOS header panels and several good used ones, a nice core support that my best friend rebuilt for me, a rust free trunk lid, a couple pairs of excellent doors and one good 75 body and frame with recent NOS qtrs already installed on it and the whole front end is new bushinged w/PST with the PST front swaybar and new Monroe Shocks.
im gonna go with a 75-76 hood so i will be one of the few cars on the road nowadays WITHOUT port holes:rolleyes: .dont know which dash i will use 74 or 75-76.
several years back a scored a ford 9 w/disc posi w/3.25 gear.hopefully this project will get a running start this spring.
motor tranny will be a SBC w/factory roller like from a 92 olds CC Wagon(only about 20k on it) and using the Fuelie and tranny from a 1989 silverado(mo power/less emmisions).

f14 .... what color speedo gear you need(driving or drivin?)? what rear end gear you got?... tire size?

since i will be using all NOS elecrta grille and associated parts... i have lots of used lesabre stuff that i would let go cheap or swap for parts in any of the above categories.... and an NOS in bumper grille for 74 lesabre.
PS ... i would also like to find a pair of 67 pontiac fenders for a full sized car.

Those big ole cars would fool you. You would look at the outside and thing that thing is comfortable inside. It was up front but the back was a pain. Never forget our family trip in a 1974 Eldorado from TN to FL when I was 14. 3 of us in the back seat and I didn't know if we would ever get there! My knees hurt just thinking about it.
The car was a mile long. The hood itself was 1/2 mile long. The distance from the front seat to the dash was 1/8 mile. The width from door to door was 1/4 mile. Trunk was only about 12" long and the distance from the rear seat to the front seat was 2". Messed up!

Does the "pad" of the dash come off of everything else? The only dash I've had to remove is the one from my Reatta and that just comes out whole.

OPGI? Is that a supplier of repair panels? My left rear quarter isn't too bad but the right is a mess. It's been bondo-ed up around the convertible top well. It's a lot worse than the rest of the car...seems like my car was hit on that corner at some point and someone put on a BAD quarter :Dou: I mean my car's definitely not junk, I've looked underneath a decent number of classic cars to be able to say that BUT for some reason the right rear quarter really should go

Sadly, I don't have the mentioned stainless trunk strip. Was it similar to the strips you have on the ends of the doors so you won't get paint chips when banging them into cars parked too close to you?

I checked Sherman a while back and today but they don't seem to list them :(

sounds like a nice project you've got coming up...

I need the check the list but I'm running like a 40 tooth gear and it seems I need to get the one with the most teeth cuz its still reading 5 mph too fast. I would have used the speedo gear calculator but my rear axle tag is missing, I can't find the stamping on the tube, and my diff cover isn't leaking AND I've already had the fluid changed, so no incentive to take the cover off and count the teeth :)

heh yeah it seems that rear seat comfort sucked until you got into a C body, but then again I've never sat in one
