I am wondering if it is permisable to due some minor filing on the saddle of the rear differential yoke in order to allow the u-joint cup to fit smoothly into place. I broke the original driveshaft a few weeks ago and thought all was ok with the yoke until today when I went to test fit the new custom driveshaft. It seems that when the driveshaft failed and ripped itself out of the car the rear u-joint cap or body hit the yoke hard enough to make a small ridge similar to casting flash on the inboard side of the cup saddle. The other option is to replace the yoke with another one from a spare 10-bolt I have. Suggestions appreciated.
If it's minor, there should be no problem cleaning it up. The pinion flange is a pretty tough item. Devon
