or can NOS/OER/used working ones be had for less or similar $? Never had to do a repair on one so I got no idea except that NOS/OER seems hard to find on any search I do on da net! What's your experiences? TIA EDIT The cost is for a complete rebuild of odometer and speedometer including calibration using new parts. I removed unit from car and shipped it to vendor recommended from this site. I have a spare unit in it now which has same problem as follows. Unit was reading mph; but jumpy until 65 and odometer was frozen. Oiling mechanism and lubing the cable did not make a difference. I just would like a working accurate speedometer and odometer. Car is a driver and I do drive it alot. The circuitry is beyond me or I would just fab an Autometer into dash spot for it. EDIT 2; Well, thanks for the offers for spares. Since I have a spare I think I'm gonna try and rebuild it myself. If that fails I'm gonna try to customize it with Autometer gauges using the stock wiring harness. Will take some time but since I have one inthere time is no problem. Gonna stick in a new cable and gears too just to replace them.
Hey Jim, if both speedo assemblies had similiar symptoms I was wondering if you had looked into the other end of the cable--- possible problem with the speedo gears in the trans????? -- Just trying to help diagnose, I've not dealt with such an issue (yet)........
I got the complete instrament cluster out of my 70 Riv sitting back in TX, if you can wait about 1.5 weeks, I might have it loose to sell you for cheap. like $100 for the whole cluster.
