First off I would like to say hello to everyone....this is my first visit to the Buick V8 community. I just email'd this site to a small group of fellow owners of Buick powered Jeeps from the International Full Size Jeep Assoc (www.ifsja.org). They are going to love this site....... My problem is with a Buick 350 engine (Dauntless) that is the OEM in my 1970 Jeep Gladiator (pickup truck) and is the original engine. It was overhauled by the previous owner about 20K miles ago. It runs strong, but the driver's side rocker arms are loose and are making noises. I removed the valve cover and found a couple of really loose rocker arms, but there doesn't seem to be a way to adjust them. Are these rockers adjustable or do they need to be replaced? I have heard that these older style rocker assemblies are prone to this very affliction. Is that true? I am pretty green when it comes to wrenching on vehicles, but I am eager to learn. Any help/advice in this matter will be highly appreciated. thanks.....
Yes, the early Buick rockers had a slight problem in the area of wear. Did you have the stamped steel rockers or the cast rockers? T A Performance does sell new rocker assemblies that have thicker shafts and the better steel rockers. They are a direct bolt on replacement. check em out here at http://www.taperformance.com/rockers.htm
