Posting in case your close...unfortunately I wont be able to get back to this yard Saw this at a yard yesterday. Written on the quarter is "good motor"
Too bad that it ended up in a junk yard. It looks to be in pretty solid shape and mostly complete. I really hate seeing a 2dr. Electra being scraped. What a shame.
I know that car and can't believe it ended in a scrap yard. Which yard is it? This car was on Rt 19 in Umatilla for sale a few years ago. I think I recognize where it's at.
wow, i would kill for a car that solid up here in NY! and its scrapped down there! Somebody die and the kids are idiots and scrapped it? ugh.... when i have kids the first thing i teach them will be "respect and preserve historic cars for the future" like my father did to me!
I'm thinking I need to start a buisness transporting solid "junk" cars from the south, to the north to part out. Right after I get on the National Antique Automotive Mothball Facility. Does that passenger side front drum look aluminum to anyone else?
Wow. That car's in better shape than many that are on the road now. Hope someone running that yard recognizes what they've got. Also, not a bad idea for a business - auto scrapyard rescue. Might not be a bad idea for a new reality TV show, either! Hey, they're building houses in a week , why not re-build a classic..???
I had a couple people ask me where this is... Its in Orlando, at LKQ Near corner of 417 and 50 Once a car goes in that yard, it does not come out... except in parts. And the front drums did look to be aluminum to me too The passenger quarter had 1" of bondo in it.
I'm sure TLC, or History Channel would pick it up, run it along American Pickers, and Pawn stars. lol That I did not know, thanks!
OK, went there this afternoon. I have to say that LKQ has raised their prices dramatically. I don't think I will shop there much anymore unless it is for something needed. I took off what was needed for my '65. The engine is LT coded 401 and turns over, car is marked the engine runs and it did run good when I was looking at it a few years ago in Umatilla. Radiator is good and a one year deal. 3 row. Switch Pitch 400 is there. 3.07 rear standard. I removed the 45 fin aluma drums. Lot of meat on them. That was the only really good deal. Got the one driver side fender skirt, fuel sending unit, gas gage, shift lever, center dash bezel, high pressure a/c line and p antenna switch. Rear defogger switch is still there but someone got the defogger. Lots of other good parts left. Very decent doors, hood, grille, fenders w/ cornering lights and it does have a boxed convertible style frame. Most that I have seen over the years had the boxed frame. if someone needs a good nailhead and trans. ,they should grab it. But be prepared to pay quite a bit if it is mostly complete. LKQ is up to about $500. for a whole engine. Front seat, most of interior chrome, gages, radio and plate, carb, kickdown switch for trans, aircleaner and some other misc are gone. There is also a 1980 Riviera S Type turbo V6 car there as well. Has factory buckets and console and the 4bbl turbo V6. Also a '95 or '96 Monte Carlo "Brickyard 400" Pacecar there.
