I have been working on makeover of the interior this year. Have new leather power seats, adjustable lumbar support all for about $400 total. Spent more on leather dye than the seats. Also worked on chages to dash and new console. Seats are out of 2000 Sebring convertable. Console out of GN.

Those seats look pretty good Doug.I've seen some similar ones out of a late 90's 300 that I thought about seeing if I could find in a salvage yard. They look very comfortable.Right now I have seats out of a 94 Cougar that are white electric leather with the electric lumbar but they're gettin kinda wore out.Time to upgrade !!! They may not be correct but for me it's about what I like and if it looks good !!! :Brow:Also looks like the shifter I want to put in mine.Is that the Mega shifter or the Star shifter?

It's a Megashifter. I have a 200r4 so this was the path of least resistance. Do the seats out of the 300 fold forward? I went with the sebring seats because they work so good in a 2 door. The passenger side seats have a really good pull forward feature for back seat entry. This does require a lot of fab work on the set base but they do bolt up to factory location. Have to work real hard to get them to mount as low as possible.

The biggest pain was dying the seats black. If possible get the seats the right color.

Now that you mention that, yes it was a 4-dr.I totally forgot that 4-drs don't tilt FWD.So guess I'll be looking for Sebrings also.....I want to change my interior to black also,it's been white since I got the car but that is also the original color(pearl white).I just like the triple black look better and since I'm not in Texas anymore I think it won't be too bad to deal with the black interior and top here in Des Moines.White tops just seem to show age quicker than the black ones.Besides, triple black just looks sinister.... :Brow: Being the evil bastard that I am!! :Dou: Are the mounts all the same level or are the fronts or backs at a different height than the floor board? Did you have to use any spacers or anything between the mounts and the floor board?

    Jeff,
I screwed up and did not take pictures of the process. The way I have mine set up there are no spacer and the angle pretty much took care of itself. You will have to do a pretty major rebuild on the lower frame of the Sebring seats. Used 3/16th by 2 inch flat stock steel for raw material and you will do a lot of welding.

If you really get around to doing this I will take some pics and help in anyway I can. Now that I have done it it is not too hard.

Thats beautiful Doug. I have been thinking about doing a swap like that ever since the Sebring came out with the shoulder belts in the seats. I wanted to know if you reinforced your floor boards so that they don't buckle under crash force? I was thining of welding or bolting in a strip of metal along the bottom of the car from left to right that would allow the rear seat bolts to grab on a larger part of the floor pan.

I thought about that. On my 70 I made it so it bolts to the stock location. These bolt holes are already reinforced and my floor is solid. In the Skylark there is also an extra seat bolt hole for the back portion of the seat so I opened up that hole and added and the extra bolt. It would not be that hard to fab up a little extra support, I may do that when I have more time. I think some heavy guage sheet stock (whatever guage the floor is) that would connect the holes for the seat belt anchors would be more than enough.

One thing you have to remember about these seats is to get the black box under the console that locks the belts up. Without this the belts will not work. Again if you get this project started I can help you with the necessary wiring info.

  10. how hard was it to dye them? and what did you use?

Dying them is the hardest part. I used SEM on the vinyl which is not to bad. I used leatherique on the leather and it is a pain. I spent more on dye than I did on the seats. If at all possible get seats you do not have to dye. I think if I did the dying again I would just use SEM on the leather also. Much cheaper. I do have to do touch ups. Nothing works well on the little bits of carpet material. And if anyone has a good idea for the seat belts let me know.
