ok...i have a 1982 Honda CB900...its got a 900cc inline 4 cyclinder...it runs high 12's in the quarter mile all stock...but i need to repair it....the brakes are bad and the 4 carbs are screwed up....but i'm going to get a guy to rebuild both and get it back on the street...but i have a 225ci buick v6 that will be coming out of the car sometime this summer....

thats the setup...this is the thought

rebuild the 225 v6 and get an adatorplate to fit it on the bike and hook it to the tranny.....

anyone here have any ideas? think it would be WAY too time consuming....i think it would be cool to make a buick bike...cuase the bike has air suspension on it stock just like the goldwings so it rides like a dream....so adding a buick engine and taking off all the trim pieces would make for a cool custom bike with the heart of a buick...

    thoughts are very welcomed...

    thanks

    gotbuick What, me worry?

    I'll go first. Your nuts!!

Time consuming, yes. I think you should fix the brakes and praise the Japanese for building something that has endured a 12 sec. passes at 22 years old. :eek2:

    Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Couldn't be much harder or crazier than those Boss Hog set ups that place a small block Chevy between your legs.
Atl least it would be lighter, and probably quicker.
And best of all, a BUICK.
I'd like to see it done.
I would then have to convince my wife to let me trade my Virago.

well it will probably happen next fall..cause i'll get the bike back on the street and want to do nothing but drive it...but winter comes and i will need something to do while i drive the car...so i think i want to morph them together...

    the buida or maybe honick???

thanks for the responses....always like to think of something that should be do-able but no one else has really heard of

more later when i get some specifics :Brow:

Stick with the 900. Is it an F model or a Custom? If it's an F model, you have a cool bike, which you could easily fix up. Parts are plentiful and realitively cheap.

Set of headers, individual K&N's, rejet the carbs, and that bike will fly.... Seriously, if the bike is in halfway good shape, don't trash it out.

Yes I'm partial to late 70's early 80's Japanese liter bikes. KZ1000's, Gs1000, Gs1100, Cb900,1000, 1100.....all fun and good bikes.

Man, I have a 1980 CB 750 supersport.. Leave it alone, Breaks are nothing to fix and the Carbs should be a cheap fix..I ride the pants off mine all summer long and dont do more then oil change and plugs once a year.. It has 34,000 miles and still runs like new.

i am with jerry [gotbuick]! and you have a bad idea for several reasons. one is the shaft drive wont handle the torque. the air shocks were only ment to handle about 900lbs total WHEN NEW, and i am sure they are not in the best shape. you will end up building a whole new bike from the downtubes back, so why distroy a perfectly good bike on a whim. you can do this project and i am not saying it wouldnt be a hell of a ride, but dont kill this classic for your own amusement. get some much more common bike frame that will have a stiffer frame to begin with and go from there. hell, if you got that much time and money, give me the bike [i will appreciate it more] and i will hook you up with some old harley trike that would be more along the lines of what you are thinking about anyway.

LOL i wish i had that much time and money....i work seond shift and go to school in the morning...both full time...so my life takes place around 11pm-4am....and i can't stand harley's! they are mostly stuck up riders that think harley or nothing...

i've found another bike...cause right now it kinda my dad's bike and i would like him to be able to ride with me....but i found a 1983 cb1000F series...stock 105hp! thats crazy...not even some of the 1800cc make that kind of power now a-days

but this bike is a custom bike...not the F style...more of a cruiser

i really didn't know that many people knew much about the old inline 4 bikes that honda built for 3 years (is that right?) they are really before their time!

    thanks for the replys

i have also had a CB750F. my first bike. and it was much faster and better than i was. got to see a canadian CB1000F with full fairing one time, and a buddy of mine has the american version now. they are still pretty potent bikes with the right rider. and as a precurser to the intercepter, helped start the crotch rocket craze along with the KZ900, and the GS1000EZ in the early 80s. i now own a custom, and it is just about right for me. have had it for 10 years and wouldnt trade it off for anything. with the spit shift tranny and shaft drive it is smooth and dead on even with any road bike i want to run with, and it makes plenty of power to pack my fat a$$ down the road  so if you want to trash a bike for a project, dont use your CB, please. that would be like putting a ford engine in your buick, just to see if you can do it :spank:

thanks for steering me in the right direction guys! :TU:

i think i'm going to try to talk my dad into keeping it for himself but still help him work on it and get a more comfortable seat for him...but i really would like to ride with him too....

its hard to find one of these bikes...there is maybe one or two for sale in NC that i know of....i didn't know these bikes were as rare as they are!

its crazy to think that old of a bike with half the CC's can still keep up with honda's latest VTX1800! the 1000F still has more HP than the 1800cc bike of today! i thought that was crazy...i think though for my first bike (only 21 years old right now) i'm looking at maybe a Suzuki Vulcan 800A....its not the fastest...but i really like how the style of it is, it does however make the most HP out of the midsize cruiser....good gas milage....well i just seem to like the sound of V-twins...thumpy!

thanks guys...glad to see some fellow bike riders out there in buick land :beer
