Great buy! It appears to be a 71 skylark.

Are you taking the average Jim?

    It's a '70 back-end and it looks like a '72 front end.

My guess is a 72 with a 70 rear bumper . It's easier to change just the bumper , as compared to bumper , grille , headlight bezels , hood . Nice score any way you look at it . Are you gonna keep it or part it ????

I thought 71 or 72 but was not sure. thanks for the correction. My 70 had a 71 bumper and someone hacked the gs grill to make it fit. The car looks real good for the price.

Great buy for the price! The body looks pretty good on it. Swap in a 455 upgrade and that would make a very nice cruiser!

i have a 455 in the garage that i will eventually swap into it. problem is i bought a 68 a few weeks back that needs to go! i powder coated the core support, wheel wells, control arms, removed the engine, junked the suspension and started doing body work on it.

new plan is to swap a running 350 into the 68 swap over the spindles and brakes from the 70 and just get rid of the 68. anyone in so cal looking for a decent 68?

im just glad that all the parts i picked up for the 68 will swap over. so far i acquired new big block coil springs front and rear, front disk conversion, body mount kit, 1 1/8 sway bar, hotchkis upper and lower trailing arms, edelbrock anti hop bars, 455 and th400.

so its the wrong bumper and grille?

not a hard fix. im wondering if i should just leave the 350 in it rather than swap to the 455. seems like a lot of money and hassle, but then again, im sure the big block is way fun.

i cant do much until the 68 is gone. i blew my budget.

oh yeah i forgot! i picked up some hotchkis lower rear control arms, hotchkis adjustable upper control arms, and some edelbrock anti hop bars with hardware for.... $200!

damn, thats a lot to change. i found some rust in the passenger fender. if i cant score another one i will try and patch it.

also looks like the car got new front sheet metal and grille. most of the parts on the front end have faded gold paint showing through. looks like someone gave the car a factory repaint at one time.

can anyone give me a heads up on the correct grille parts to look for? i see the 70 headlamp bezels are all chrome, i see the difference in the bumper, what about the hood trim piece?

my major problem now is deciding on what engine to put in it! i have two bunk 350s and a tore down 455 with some awesome fresh built 430 heads.

what to do what to do.

i found out what was causing the engine noise! the motor had a broken push rod and two spun bearings.

the block looks good along with the heads. im going to pull the standard crank out of my 68 350 and give the 70 a full standard rebuild along with new TA rocker shafts and push rods.

as soon as i detail the motor and engine bay i will most likely sell the green car. i have major plans for my black 68.

well i got everything to rebuild the engine now. i had the block hot tanked and had new cam bearings and freeze plugs installed. i ordered a comp 260h cam for it along with some new chrome valve covers. the engine will get all new bearings, lifters, gaskets, pistons, rings, and a very good cleaning. im going to clean and paint all the pulleys and try my hardest to get the a/c system working. i also found the missing a/c duct in the trunk.

the car should make a very nice cruiser.

i will post more pics when i get around to fixing it up. i was thinking of buying a tiny torque converter for it as well, will see.

the car will be for sale for sure. i hate to see it go but, im graduating college this December and i need to pay my bills off.
