hmmm... I don't think I took much of the "hill" off. I did them back in october.... I'm starting a new set once I get them back from being hot tanked.... I milled the first ones .060 for compression, but since I had to pull the motor for oil problems, I am using better pistons, so I need to start with fresh heads.... Should I remove that hill with the new heads when I do them up???
The hill/ the casting bump, How about it? leave it alone, or take it away (flatten it) on a "street able engine" I am planing to do some pocket porting, so i would like to know how to do with it ! Way is it there anyway? I haven't seen it in any other head.
in a past post i pontificated about the possibility of the bump shaping the burn pattern of the A/F mixture others have called it an artifact of the head casting process taking it out will increase the combustion chamber cc's, but probably not all that significantly i think that we are still awaiting the final answer from someone in the know. I gotta think that its in there for a reason, its too significant to be just an afterthought from the manufacturing process that didn't get cleaned up. do the 455 heads have this? what about the nailheads? is this a buick design thing?
