i just installed airbags, boxed control arms, and no hop bars, before that i had best 60 ft of 1.85, with 10 1/2 slicks, they spin off the line and my right rear would drop a lot, hopefully these mods help, i have good gas shocks on car now and like how it rides, MY QUESTION IS will race shocks help 60' ,or will they hurt drivabilty, my front end is already lightend up, battery in trunk also, so it seems to transfer weight ok, my goal is 11.99

    My experience is two fold:

    1. Race shocks are not really needed until you have a high hp car that really shocks the rearend. Such as a transbrake car with ladder bars or four link. Seems that old worn out shocks for street cars helps as much as anything so the rear end can squat.

    2. Race shocks are not real good for the street, the valving is set up to allow compression, but to restrict rebound. They also will wear out faster, using them on the street. It may not ride as you want.

It seems that traction is the variable, and until you really are hitting the slicks near their traction limit, the shocks do not have such a big effect. I think you will benefit if you remove the gas shocks on the car now and just put regular old hydraulic shocks, preferrably older used ones that are soft, like above. That's my $.02 worth.

Buy a set of Hal 12 way adjustable shocks. You will have setting for the strip and settings for the street, and simple adjustability. The shocks will help with the rate of weight transfer. They have been effective on cars in the 14's.
Race Shock is such a generic term. I personally stiffen my rear shocks up. I dont want the ass end slamming toward the ground on launch. I setup the rear to lift(which is actually the tires being forced into the track), not squat(tires being pulled off the track).
My 227rwhp mustang ran 12.90's with 1.68 60' times with this type of setup, and was completely sreetable(except for the slicks).
Summit carries the shock I spoke of.
