Kenne Bell Wildcat Cool Runner 455, 430,400 intake for Dominator with port work, $275 plus shipping from WI
5 1/4" high from carb pad to bottom of intake where the front of the intake sits on the block by the valley. That height is measured with a straight=edge off the carb pad and a 90 degree angle to the front lower of the intake. This is the version TA created their SPX from, I believe. It will work with iron or TA aluminum heads. Maybe someone else will chime in as to a comparison with other intake heights.
According to their catalog, the TA version (SPX) is said to be 1-1/2" taller than a stock intake. I have no idea about the Kenne-Bell Cool Runner, since it doesn't have an angled carb pad like the SPX (with the KB the top of the carb sits at the same angle as the engine does in the car). Devon
(with the KB the top of the carb sits at the same angle as the engine does in the car). No to interrrupt this thread but I have a question possibly relevant to a potential buyer; I will be using one of these intakes on my 464 with a Thermoquad 1000CFM comp series carb ... how tall of an air cleaner will I be able to use with a GS hood? Car is a 69 Skylark/GS clone. Regards, 455NGLIDE
I will take it, to go with the dominator, hold up on shipping the carb til we see how this plays out, you should see the m.o. today or tomm.
Hey Dave, I had the intake sold locally, but it fell through. We can see if 64special takes it, otherwise it's yours and I could ship together with carb. I did some more digging; according to TA's website, the SPX will fit under 68-72 GS hood with 3" drop base air cleaner, but not under 64-67 hood.
" the SPX will fit under 68-72 GS hood with 3" drop base air cleaner" Only with a 3 1/8" air element, not much room for air at all
Keep in mind the front of the air cleaner lid will be the highest point because the KB's carb pad is not angled. Thus, the larger the air cleaner diameter, the lesser the hood clearance. Devon
