Edward V111 imported a buick V8 into this country & had an english coachbuilder put a limo back on it the car reg. no CUL 421 is currently for sale.It is my understanding that Edward imported more than one V8 into the country I know of a buick V8 with a thrup & maberley limo body which is said to be the future kings state car (he later abdicated to marry wallis simpson) I would much appreciate any info on which & how many cars were imported for royal use, many thanks--NIGGY

The King abdicated the throne in the 30s, and Buick did not build a V8 until 53, so I think you will find that the Buick in question was a straight 8. Ther were two Buicks built for the Queen when she came to Canada , but they were 1939s and were also straight 8s

    1939 Buick

Way back in 52 or 53 I worked in the boys group in the Oshawa General Motors plant. I remember an area in one corner of the upstairs that had a 1939 Buick in it. I have no idea how many were made. For that visit King George VI, and the Queen had at least one car. They gave out medals to commemorate the visit, to all school children. I have at least one of those. I would imagine that there was more than one car available. Enough......................This is putting me in an age bracket that most things that old have moss or mold on them.
